We who are in the body of Christ has been gifted with gifts as well as talents. What are those special spiritual gift that a person might have. We looked into some the other day but didn’t go into details. Today we will reflect on your spiritual gifts.
There are nine spiritual gifts and they are
- Word of wisdom
- Word of knowledge
- Gift of faith
- Gift of healing
- Working of miracles
- Prophecy
- Distinguishing between spirits
- Speaking in tongues
- Interpreting tongues
This is according to 1st Corinthians chapter 12. Each gift is unique in there own ways. A person might have a specific gift, but it’s may not be what they are called to be. I believe each gift serves a purpose in the body of Christ. How do we go about using the gift. The Holy Spirit will give us the right word for the right time. We will look at each individual gifts in the next few days. As we study these gifts, we will notice how it is broken down into categories.
The first three is based on our walk with God or the understanding a person need. Faith, wisdom, knowledge. The next group reflects the evidence of God. The gift of miracles and healing. It’s could be a outward showing or a inward touch which can only be from God.
The next group is that of a seer. A person who has this gift is also unique when it comes to God. A person who prophesize, needs to have a understand of what the spirit is saying. Also need to say it as God or the spirit reveals it. Not as what they want to say. This person could have the gift of prophecy but it don’t make him a prophet. The gift will be given to one as it is call to be. Coming along with this, a person can distinguish between spirits. In other word he or she will relate and recognize the type of spirit upon a person’s life.
The last two has been questioned for a long time. It’s dealing with speaking in tongues and interpretation of tongues. This is a hard pill to swallow, people do misuse these two things within the church. What is the difference in speaking, and praying in a your spiritual tongue will look at that later. These two gift is a way to edify the body of Christ. Both gift working at the same time and space only give clarity of how the holy spirit is working in the church.
This is only a summary of nine gifts given out to the believers in Christ. We also will put into those group what goes under each gift and it’s working.
