A desire to visit Rome

Have you ever desire to visit a friend who lives miles away. When you about to go to visit that person, things always mess up your plan. In the past people wrote letters to others. Within the letter it could contain many thoughts, but today we have emails or texts that we sent to people. Do those things explain our inner most feeling to a person or a group of people? Let’s look at Paul and his desire to be at Rome.

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers; making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you. For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; that is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles. I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
Romans 1:8‭-‬15 KJV

Paul first said in today scriptures, he thank God for all of those in Rome. He continues to say he desire to be with those in Rome because of the report about their faith in God. He mention that he never stop praying for those in Rome. If you don’t believe me I have God to back me up.

Many things Paul said in the above text. What was Paul main objective to visit Rome? His main objective was to preach the gospel to those in Rome. He heard a lot about their lives and he wanted to impart into them some spiritual gifts. So they could be established in their faith. He also wanted to make sure as he visit Rome, both himself and the people be comforted together, because of the mutual faith that they shared.

Paul still in his salutation keep on saying how he is long to preach the gospel to those in Rome. He said this because of what God had place on him to do. No matter whom he came across, Gentiles, Greeks, and the Barbarians, wise and the unwise he had an assignment to do. This assignment was to preach the gospel.

In spite of it all Paul still was on a mission to carry the gospel of Jesus. Even if he couldn’t be there he wrote letters to different places, such as Rome to encourage, to enlightened, gave some rebuke. As he wrote these letters, the letters was inspired by God, and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

We might not know at this point what Paul was going through, but he still had the time to write a letter to many different cities. When writing this letter he mentioned a lot about men’s condition, God’s grace, and salvation is in no other than Jesus Christ.

I do think by him writing this letter to those at Rome, we can receive from it. We has seen in the last two days Paul’s salutation, but it’s more to come. His introduction to this letter only to let us know of God’s grace and love towards Paul. Paul in return is spreading God’s love to people within this letter. By the end of the book of Romans your life will never be the same.

To summarize todays teaching it’s was all about Paul desire to be in Rome. He heard about the people and their faith. For that reason he continued to keep them in prayer. He wanted to impart so much into everyone. Encourage them in their faith and to continue on with God no matter what may happen.

Finally do we have a heart like Paul. Do you love God so much that you would sacrifice everything to serve him. This is what a person who been called into the ministry need to understand. Ministry is being a servant of God. Allowing God you use you for his purpose and plan. The gospel message has to be preached by someone. All we need to do is to do what God has place on our life.

Those who are in Christ Jesus our life is hidden in him. We should no longer walk after the flesh but walk in the Spirit of God. Continue to be with us tomorrow as we go deeper into the word. Looking at why the gospel is God’s power unto salvation.
