Romans chapter 1: 1-6

Today we start a new chapter in looking into our freedom in Jesus Christ. This chapter address several key elements of sinful nature of men. Before we get to that point lets look at the person who wrote this book.

Paul wrote this letter to the people in Rome. Within the first 6 verses he informs the people who he is.

Paul salutation in Romans chapter 1:1-6 let’s us know who he is and how he got there. Second it speaks about who Jesus Christ is. Third it tell us who this letter was address to. I am going to mix up some things today as we understand Paul salutation.

A salutation is a standard formula of words used in a letter to address the person being written to.

We see in this one verse, whom Paul is writing to within this book For it reads as follows:

to all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 1:7 KJV

We see according to the scriptures, he is addressing the saints in Rome. You can say those saints are people who trust in God. He also address grace to you and peace from God and the Lord Jesus Christ. He came to bring them peace and grace that only God and The Lord Jesus Christ could give.

Also Paul address who he is and why.

Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, (which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) by whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
Romans 1:1‭-‬2‭, ‬5‭-‬6 KJV

Paul stated serval things with the scriptures about who he is at this time. Also in the middle of saying who he was he also mentioned something about Christ. This is what he said.

concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; and declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
Romans 1:3‭-‬4 KJV

Who is this Paul. He is a servant of Jesus Christ. Called to be an apostle. How was this possible. It was at the time he met Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus. Paul by faith and being obedient to God, he gain the title of apostleship. Something happened within the middle of the above scriptures. What would that be? He not only address himself, but also the person who sent him out to be his witness.

Paul, in the middle of his salutation, he mentioned something about Jesus Christ. Who was this man that sent me. He is none other than Jesus Christ the seed of David according to the flesh. Claim to be Son of God with power. This was revealed by Jesus death burial and resurrection. With all this Paul reminders us it’s was all done in the spirit of holiness. Holiness is the act of being holy. Holy is a way a person need to live for God

Within this few lines of scripture key words are spoken. If you do have time within this week, look at words such as holiness, grace, power of God, resurrection from the dead. Look at the word peace, saints, and the last thing is what it means to be a servant to God.

To know, these truth and understand the meaning of words, will help you, as we study the book of Romans

This is just day one in the book of Romans. We will continue to be in chapter 1 the rest of the week. Be ready to learn more about God’s truth and his ways.
