Today the subject is suiting up for the battle. EPHESIANS 6:13-18 part 2. We are looking at the armour of God and how wearing our spiritual armour will help us to defeat the enemy. Each part by itself well not work. By putting on the full amour of God we gain the victory over the enemy.
Yesterday we talked about
The belt of truth
The breastplate of righteousness
Have the feet ready to spread the gospel of peace.
Today is the rest of the armour and it’s vital part in defeating the enemy.
4 Shield of faith is there to extinguish the firely darts of the wicked. A shield is for protection against blows or missiles.
There are people in the world today always putting the believers of Christ down. The say nasty comments, the critize the faith. Most of all they just plain dislike the believers in Christ. The shield of faith will help us walk through those things. Our faith is in God and in him do we trust. We can defeat the wickedness of people by having a strong faith in God. Knowing in him we live, move and have our being. Don’t get upset or discourage when people come up against us. If they do or when they do we know we are doing our part within God’s kingdom. The shield of faith, is their to quench out those fiery darts that comes against the believers. Therefore we don’t have to listen to any negative of bad things that comes our way, but we can put it out before it tries to penetrate us in the spirit.
5. helmet of salvation is there to protect our head. Who is the head of the believers? That person is Christ, and because of Christ people have salvation.
A covering for the head to protect the brain from any hard force or blow. When we look at the helmet of salvation it there for serval reason.
1. To keep our mind stayed on Christ. If the enemy can’t get us within the heart, he will play mind game on us. He try to convince us we are less of a person, but we know being in Christ we are great and now children of God. Loved and cared for by his power and spirit.
2. Helmet also protect the ears. Knowing we are in Christ, and in Christ we have made complete in him. The enemy will try to take us away from God. We listen to the truth that comes from God. We turn a death ear from the voice of the wicked people. Those that want to control and manipulate the believers into the wrong thinking and the wrong concepts.
3. It keep us looking forward. We are not able to be distracted on the right or left side of us. Our focus is on the our salvation that is in Jesus Christ. We don’t have to be shaken by the things going on beside us if our heart mind and soul are focus on the things of God.
6 SWORD of the spirit is the word of God. As we cross reference this to Hebrews 4:12 it’s talks about how powerful the word of God is. For it reads.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
If you look at the word sword it contains the word, word. How wonderful is it to carry the word of God around with us. Let look at what the word can do from Hebrew 4:12.
1. The work of God is quick and powerful.
2. Sharper than any two-edged swords,
What effect does the word have on people?
It cut or pierce people to their core existence.
The word is a discernrer of the thought and intents of the heart.
Our heart may think one thing but when the word of God penetrates it, things will change. Our intentions changes, the way of life changes for us.
As we carry the word of God around with us it will cut those evil attack. When we do have on the spiritual armour as we use the sword of the spirit people lives can change and souls can be set free. The wicked one, the devil or Satan might try to stop our progress but God tells us to press on within the battle. We are equip and gain authority over the enemy. No longer control by him but control by the spirit of God that is within us.
As we put on our spiritual armour each day we can withstand the attack from the enemy. Suit up for everyday the attacks will come because the devil is looking to devour God’s people. The schemes, the plot, any means necessary to make sure the believers in Christ will lose in the battle. Our confidence is in Christ, the power is in Christ, and the authority is in Christ. If we are in Christ than we can walk with boldness and confidence knowing greater is he that is in me, than he that is in the world.
