Love counts

“If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.  And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.   “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?  For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you,  saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’   “Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won’t he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand?  If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace.  In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.
Luke 14:26‭-‬33 NIV

Love for God

Loves counts when it comes to following Christ.
The first and for most commandment Is to love God. Why is that so important. The truth to this is when God or Jesus is the main person in our life, then everything else takes second or third place. Vs 26 states this if anyone comes after Christ. To come after means to follow. Being a disciple of, following after in word, deed and action.
What is the point Jesus is making here to be his disciple or follower one have to get their priority in the right spot. To be Christ follower it done out of love. The love that you have for Christ would look like hate towards your family member. It a way to make you think. Are you being influenced by those around you or is it Christ who is compelling you. If you are so tune into the natural order of thing when it comes to following Christ and not looking at the spiritual expect then you can’t really be a true disciple or a follower of Christ. In this one statement it just letting us to know is our love for Christ out weighs anything that is near and dear to us.
