Mark 3:13-14 (KJV)
“And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him. And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach.”
Ordained Presence”
In Mark 3, Jesus creates a counter-movement by calling leaders out of the crowd and up to a mountain. The word “ordained” (Greek: epoiesen) literally means “to make” or “to create.” In a world that is “breaking down,” this verse shows a King not just a king but the true Messiah, who is “making” something new. Today let us recognize that before any work is done in the world (preaching or sending), there must be a period of simply “being with Him.” Being with him means a period of getting to know Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of this word. Having a personal relationship with him. Spending time studying the Bible and understanding the ways of God.
In my life the presence of God has been with me, but yet I had to spend time in his presence. In other words to be sent out to preach God called on me to do that work. It wasn’t that I knew it all right then, it was years of learning and doing those things he called me into. It wasn’t easy when your own flesh gets in the way. I learned that when God put a mandate on my life he never left me. He was the one that made it stronger. That is the real spiritual calling that never left me because the ordained presence of God was all in my life. No matter what I did the spirit inside drew me to do the work.
Jesus ordained and called the twelve, but God through his spirit selected me to be a Word Bearer way before I was ready. The reason I knew this was because my spirit wasn’t at rest until I finally yielded to his mandate and not mine.
God knows your heart and your spirit he wouldn’t give a person a mandate unless he knew that person could handle it. Yet a person will run and hide from God but his presence will forever be with them.
