Have you ever talked yourself out of something that you knew would be better for you to go to than stay where you are. This almost happened to me this month. My family was having a get-together but for me I almost talked myself out of it. Why would I do a thing like that. It was a fear of the unknown that’s the reason why.

Once I got to my family home, it was all different. The feeling of love just opened up and the warmth of goodness swept over my soul. It was about family but also a reconnecting to the God within me and how it all started.
The awakening in my soul was the point to see the family pulling together as one, to achieve the factor that was once there. It was more about rebuilding something that had been talked about but never put into place. The awakening in my soul was seeing people laughing and having a good time like it was before. The was a set of a generation that never had a family gather of this magnitude.
This was the first family gathering not of Mom’s generation but of my generation. The ages between 45-75 were those who helped to get this gathering off the ground.
What I saw was also the wonders of God all around me. From nature to human beings, the handy work of God. A four generation family, not knowing what life will bring us in the next few years. It was about seeing the power of God moving in an environment where we had people in the family from all types of background and makeup.
Another awakening in my soul was the unity with the core group of people this weekend. It wasn’t just about the family gatherings but my sister’s retirement celebration. Seeing others that I knew and getting to see others in my sister’s life was a great blessing. The unity was coming together to help celebrate my sister’s retirement and knowing how much the family appreciates her.
At last the final awakening is a transformation within my spiritual life. Knowing God was with me going to Virginia and returning back to South Carolina. The weekend transforms me into knowing how life is important, how each special moment needs to be cherished and not wasted away. Have fun, enjoy life, but do it the way you know what is right. Once the moment is gone it will never roll around again.
I like to say to everyone thank God for everything in life. You may not see eye to eye, but where love is, it can change the entire scene of things. That is the reason why God sometimes has to take to where it begins so you can be awakened in your heart, mind, soul and body like he did me.
Psalms 23 and Psalms 24 the key readings for today.
