How many have heard this statement I once was blind but now I see? That statement is also found in one of the oldest hymns around, for the hynm is amazing grace.
Part of Luke 4:14-21 says Jesus came to recover sight to the blind. Jesus is no longer in this world but we who confess to be believer in Christ are able to restore sight to the blind
How is this possible? Is it a physical or spiritual sight? Let’s see what Jesus said according to the text.
Jesus went around teaching and preaching the word that God gave him to say. He came to do his father’s will and his words only come to him by his father God. While Jesus went along his way he did miracles. In the power of God Jesus was able to restore sight to the blind. This was the physical manifestation of God power that was seen.
When Jesus was here on earth it was both physical and a spiritual manifestation. For people to witness the power of God moving it changed the heart of the people. When people regained their sight at that time , it was a lesson to be learned.
As Jesus went out to heal people he touch their physical and spiritual state. When we go to the doctor they only help us with the physical, but what about the spiritual need. This is the reason Jesus came so our spiritual man can develop a closer relationship with God.
Today is a reflection of the reason Jesus was anointed to do. To open the eyes of the blind. Those who were blinded both physical and spiritual. Jesus was sent to bring about everlasting life to people who believed in him. Not just then but today also.
Meaning, people are walking around in spiritual darkness. That spiriual darkness can take on two form. The first form is those who know Christ but don’t have the concept who they are in Christ. People goes on for years and yet the believe but don’t study or read the word so they can see their way clearer. The life which they are now living belongs to Jesus and some don’t understand. Once they come to see the power of God and realize who they are in Christ and the benifits to God kingdom they will say I once was blind but now I see God’s truth for my life.
It gives me a greater joy in knowing when a person hears the word and acts upon it. By acting upon the word they now make that commitment to follow Christ. They themself have come to the understanding it’s time for a change. Time to see the real truth about life. They now can say i was blind but now i see.
Tomorrow we will look into Romans and John to see the restoration power of God through the working of Jesus Christ.
