Alive unto God – By the word of God.

This week we are dealing with being alive to God through the word. As we read the word we should have the right mindset to understand what the word of God is telling us.  The word of God and with the right mindset will give us a deeper love for God. With that deeper love for God we will grow deeper in our relationship with God.  As we grow in our relationship we will feel alive unto him.

What does it mean to be alive? It means having true life and happiness. It is a sense of being awakened and feeling refreshed.  Being alive unto God by the word will open our mind to the truth of God and give us more understanding of our relationship with him.

David in Psalms 119:97-106 gives us a meaning of how David felt towards the law of God.  He had a mindset to please God through the law.  He loved the law to the point he was led and guided by their precepts.  We had said the word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path.   He realized by having the right mindset and the right love of the law, God will be with him always.  He didn’t ask for much just to understand the law and abide by it.

How much more are we, living our lives in this age, will be able to love on God and his word, truth, and love.  In the world today some people’s mindset isn’t in the words of God but on  traditional beliefs, rules, regulations which weren’t ordained by God.  When we really have a mindset of understanding the truth of the real love of Jesus and God it will not force us to be alive unto God but it would be a longing, a desire to be alive unto God.

We get it wrong it’s not what God can do for us, it’s about how we can serve God in the way he wants us to do. Why not be alive to God because we are already dead to sin. Sin has no power over us to obey the lust there is. We have a spiritual obligation to God to live by.  The obligation is to have a mindset to study the word, not just by reading, but applying it in your life. With even more desire to please God through our relationship with him.  Our mind should be focused on Jesus and his teaching and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

This is in step in being alive to God and as we continue to move forth in God we long to be closer with him each and everyday.  Not of ourselves but the work of his spirit within us. Knowing this, it will keep us alive unto God and not of this world
