We are looking at Seek Guidance through the Holy Spirit. We do this by asking the Holy Spirit to guide your decisions and actions in daily life.
What did Jesus tell his disciples in John Chapter 14? How do believers in Jesus get the Holy Spirit? Who is the Holy Spirit? How does the Holy Spirit direct your life. Last two things are what does it mean to be led and empowered by the Holy Spirit?
Jesus told his disciples in the book of John chapter 14 this. I am leaving you, I’m going to a place where you can’t follow me. Yet I’m going to prepare a place for you. Don’t fear I will leave you a comforter. He will lead and guide you into all truth. Not only that he will bring to your remembrance those things I have taught you.
The way to be alive to God is to realize the function and the purpose of the Holy Spirit. He leads and guides us. He empowered us. In other words the Holy Spirit gives us the power to do the work that God has set out for us to do. Look into Luke chapter 4 and you will see once Jesus was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit. He came out of the wilderness empowered by it. This was when Jesus publicly told the church what he was called to do.
Our faith and belief in God is great but there is more. It’s our life that is hidden in Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit that motivates us to be alive in God.
How does all this work and how do I get to that point. We need to be born again. Receive the Lord Jesus Christ into our life. I do believe at the moment the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us. We can be led by the Spirit but not be empowered by him. For example electricity runs through the house but you can’t see its power. As soon that switch is on it turns whatever that switch goes to.
Being alive and staying alive to God you can say a person does depend on the Holy Spirit every day. It’s the third person in the Trinity. We can say also the Holy Spirit gives us guidance on the right way to go in life. God Spirit is alive and active in the believer’s life, but people need to let it flow in them.
To be alive to God is allowing the Holy Spirit to rest in and on us so we can do the work God has set before us. The work isn’t hard if you know it’s come by the way of God.
