Not Even the World’s Standard (N.E.W.S) at Noon

Our focus today is about fasting. Not the fasting we do during the time we fall asleep and wake up, but the fasting we do spiritually.
Spiritual fasting is done not to bring things on us but to bring the glory to God. Spiritual fasting isn’t something new. We see many people like Daniel, the Hebrew boys Abraham and many others in the old testament fast. They did this to honor God and not anyone else. It was a way to depend on not flesh but on the Spirit of God for strength and direction in life. We also saw Jesus fasting as he went into the wilderness. It was about gaining strength from God through the spirit in order to have power not to fall into those temptations that Satan was sending Jesus. 40 days and nights Jesus was being tempted by Satan yet Jesus Christ didn’t fail once. As he came out of the wilderness he was empowered to do the work that was ahead of him.
Luke 4 and Matthew 4 tell us all about this( read it in your quiet time). Our N.E.W.S. today is spiritual fasting will bring us strength as we continue to look towards God in the midst of the fasting. We will gain power after the fast. Power that God will give us to continue in this spiritual fight. We gain understanding as we look towards the leading of the Holy Spirit. This is why fasting is important to the believers of Jesus Christ.
Continuing with spiritual responsibilities it serves many purposes both to natural and spiritual man. Fasting helps both because it clears our mind heart soul and spirit. It’s good also because food is not the focus but we are depending on the power of God. The strength to endure, relying on God to work in us, and most of all depending on the word of God to carry us through.
This is the N.E.W.S. some people don’t get. Therefore we need to spread it, so people will know the truth. Fasting is for the body of Christ. It is a great way to gain strength, power and understanding from God. As we do fast we move deeper into a relationship with Jesus Christ. Knowing we have the power of the Holy Spirit living in us. The Holy Spirit empowers us to do great words and when it comes to fasting we can become greater in our walk with God.
Tomorrow N.E.W.S. AT NOON is a look at Daniel and the reason why he fasted and the benefits from it.
