When do we realize that the past has influenced our present life. Today it’s about as we continue in this race don’t focus on the past mistakes but look towards the victory we have in Jesus Christ.
Lets look at what the scriptures say about looking behind and looking forward.
Philippians 3:14-16 NCV
[14] I keep trying to reach the goal and get the prize for which God called me through Christ to the life above. [15] All of us who are spiritually mature should think this way, too. And if there are things you do not agree with, God will make them clear to you. [16] But we should continue following the truth we already have.
We as believers in Jesus Christ have goals to set each day, each month, each year. One goal is never let the past stop you from all you can be in Jesus Christ. Many followed the ways of God, they stumbled, miss the mark. Some asked God to forgive them for their mistakes. Today Church leaders, people are looking at them under the microscope waiting for them to make a simple mistake. If they do they are quick to vote them out of that position. We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. No matter what, we should follow God’s truth and if you have seen the power working in your life then you know it’s not about turning back but setting goals to grow higher in the Lord.
The second awareness is people can lose out by looking back. As a former track runner, I was always told not to look back or slow down when you are about to cross the finish line. Second matters, when a person looks back it only takes a fraction of a second from 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place. Why are you looking back? Look ahead and stay focused on what is in front of you. Within this Christian race our true victory comes as we focus on Jesus Christ. People focus more on their past mistakes than looking at what Jesus has done for them.
People will remember the errors of your ways. God will forget your mistakes once you ask him for forgiveness and repent from your ways of sin. Those who receive Jesus Christ as their personal savour God’s grace and mercy is upon their lives. Our aim is to continue to live a righteous life. Live to honor God, knowing that Christ came to redeem all mankind from their unrighteousness. To place them among those who are sanctified in Jesus Christ.
How do we stay focused on Jesus Christ among these sinful people will be our next lesson. Today is about making sure our present life stays focused on the things of God so we understand what our future will hold. God has given us so much both physically and spiritually, can we really understand all the things God has done, since the beginning of time until now? Let’s make it more personal. What had God done for you within your lifetime. When we start focusing on God’s truth, what he has done is doing, and what is yet to come, then this is the moment of awareness. We will understand why it is important to say in the race without looking back at the past, running with endurance, and let nothing distract you from falling out of this christian race.
What is your aim and goal as you are in this Christian life. Why did you ask Jesus to be your Lord and savior. Those are some of the awareness we need to wake up to and find within our heart, mind, soul and spirit. Continue to run in the race. Never give up, but be strong each day because the enemy will come after us to make us want to quit, focus on Jesus Christ. stay in the race, because we are already winners in the sight of God.
