STAYING IN THE CHRISTIAN RACE

Galatians 5:7-12 NIV
[7] You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? [8] That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. [9] “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.” [10] I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing you into confusion, whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty. [11] Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished. [12] As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!

Many times I have been distracted by family members, animals, neighbours, and other things as I was studying for an assignment or other things. Those distractions can cause a lot of problems if we aren’t careful. 

It can make you mess up on homework, cooking, cleaning and move you into a state of madness.  Distractions cause frustrations upon a person’s life. When a person gets frustrated they don’t have a clear mind and could feel very out of place.

Within working at different places I have seen people getting distracted from doing their job. This can cause people not to focus on the task at hand and they have made a big mistake. 

Within the text today we are focusing on running in the race. What race we are talking about. It’s about our life as a believer in Jesus Christ.  People will tell us not to believe in God. They will try to mislead people in a false religion.  God has called us into a relationship with him and not into any man made religion. 

Paul states truths within these scriptures. Paul tells us what will happen to people that try to confuse people and get them off the real truth of God. Those people will pay the penalty for their lies and trickery trying to entice people not to follow the one and only true God.

With our faith in God, knowing who he is and all that he stands for. We shouldn’t let others get lus out of the race.  The truth of the matter is this, don’t listen to ungodly people or others who try to stop  you from your belief in God, the ministry of Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. 

Why do people want to get others away from God? God is truth and Jesus is the light of the world. People who walk in darkness, not knowing the truth want to stop your forward process in the things of God.  The real message about staying in the christian race, people will come after the christian to discourage them, mock them, and do ungodly things against them. They do this to make you want to give up.  We as believers must continue in the race, no matter what others may say or do to us. You are living your life for God and not for men.

As we close today, let’s remind ourselves that our Christian life is a lifestyle not just an event or an action that happens one or twice a year.   This race we are in we already have gained the victory in Jesus Christ. We have life and have it eternally.  Therefore when a person tries to cut you off or try to discourage you. Tell them I got life, I got a place in heaven already with Jesus. Nobody can separate me from the love of God that is in Jesus Christ.
