We are expanding this weekend’s message. We will be talking about the life of mephibosheth (jonathon son). Not only about him but ziba his caretaker.
How do you feel about those sudden events. The best way of looking at these events are things that come upon a person without warning. Those events could have a life changing experience within our lives.
This first part of the teaching is the event that suddenly happened in Mephibosheth at the age 5.
1 Samuel 31:7 KJV
[7] And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they that were on the other side Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
During the time of war, people fled from the army that conquered the land. People were running to get to a safe place. The scripture let us know about Jonathon(father of Mephibosheth) and what happened to him.
As we notice a son just lost his father and now the people are fleeing for their lives. In 2 Samuel 4:4 we find out about a sudden event that occurred in Mephibosheth’s life. Let’s look and see what really happened that day.
2 Samuel 4:4 NCV
[4] (Saul’s son Jonathan had a son named Mephibosheth, who was crippled in both feet. He was five years old when the news came from Jezreel that Saul and Jonathan were dead. Mephibosheth’s nurse had picked him up and run away. But as she hurried to leave, she dropped him, and now he was lame.).
This is a summary of what really went on. Now Mephibosheth lame and does not know what to do. In 2 Samuel chapter nine we pick up the rest of the story. While in Lodebar, David wanted to know if there were people left, from the camp of Saul.
We will look at life in Lodebar and how DAVID placed him into his house.
