We want to welcome you to our weekend edition. This weekend and the next we will be talking about These three words suddenly, broken and restored. All these words are within the bible but today i am just laying the ground work for the main teaching next weekend.
Within the scriptures the word or the form of the word suddenly appears. The word suddenly is without warning, quickly, fast. In the book of Acts it speaks on, suddenly a great earthquake came. In Luke it speaks about suddenly.
Luke 2:13-14 KJV
[13] And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, [14] Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, good will toward men.
Acts 2:2 KJV
[2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
1 Thessalonians 5:2-4 KJV
[2] For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. [3] For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. [4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
These are only a few passages of scriptures that the word suddenly is used in, but one is leading up to a sermon coming soon.
2 Samuel 4:4 KJV
[4] And Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
It doesn’t mention the word suddenly but at the age of 5 Mephibosheth life was suddenly turned upside down. Not going into detail at this time but just being lame at 5 years old and the other events that unfolded, you can say Mephibosheth was going through lots of life changing experience.
now that suddenly has changed into brokenness. he was broken in all areas of life. His spirit, mind, heart and soul. Plus he had to deal with is ability of not fully able to walk again.
What we went through during the covid-19 it doesn’t compare to a child losing his father, uncle and grandfather all at one time, and becoming lame. What event that had happened to you suddenly has altered your world. Was you broken because of that, and have you gotten over that brokenness.
As we look at Mephibosheth this weekend look at him as a person who had to deal with issues. The unknown, why did all that stuff happen to him.
Tomorrow we will be looking into the friendship that suddenly happens between David and Jonathan.
