This week we will be talking about freedom. The freedom we have in Jesus Christ. We are no more slaves to sin, but alive to Jesus Christ and the things of God.
July 4th American celebrated Independence Day. This celebration was and is a reminder to all Americans that They are m no longer were under the law of great Britain.
The original 13 colonies have now broken ties with great Britain and are a free nation not under nobody’s command or rules.
Yet there came a time when there was a civil war between the north and the south. The north and the south couldn’t agree on a given subject
Yet the civil war changed the history of the United States. The different areas had slaves. These slaves at one point had a declaration or a degree that said all slaves are free.
Some took advantage of their freedom while others continued to be on the plantation. They only knew of being in that one place for a period of time.
Yet they were free to go, yet they didn’t.
I would imagine they didn’t go because of their surroundings. Very comfortable
Fear of the unknown. I know I’m free but what ifs happens. People that take our freedom and use it against me.
I am just better off here knowing what I have now.
Freedom act of being free. No control over another. Liberty.
Do you know there are key points in knowing about our freedom in Jesus Christ. The major points are to stand stand firm in the faith. Second is don’t go back into bondage. In other words whatever you were a slave to before Christ came into your life. Don’t let it have you again. You are free in Jesus Christ. Walk in his light.
Since we are free in Jesus Christ remember those 5 takeaway
1. We are free in Jesus Christ. We have freedom from sin. Gal. 5:1-2
2. God gives us freedom Romans 3:21-26
3. We are alive with Christ the old is done away with 1 Corinthians 5:9,17
4. Seek God every day as we seek God we won’t get tangle up in sin. , Roman 8:14
5. Our freedom in Jesus Christ is greater than anything. As we live here on earth you might have some heard time. Don’t go back into being yoked again to sin. Don’t let sin reign in your body to obey the lust thereof. All over the New Testament
Today was a reminder of our freedom in Jesus. We can’t do anything (sinning) while we are free in Jesus Christ. We have become new and our desire is to live for God and not for the world. The truth is don’t take advantage of the freedom we have in Jesus but use it for righteousness in God. Lots more good a person can do, to change the lives of others
