You have been drafted to serve.

The word draft or drafted means to select (a person or group of people) and bring them somewhere for a certain purpose.

Many people were drafted to serve in the military of the United States to fill the vacancies. This was done between 1948 thru 1973. The draft was not done on a volunteer basis, but it was mandatory by the order of the United States government.

Today people join the military voluntarily. They want to serve and are willing to serve the military. One fact we know is they enlist and go through basic training. After training is over they move on to the next phase of the enlistment.

From 1948-1973 many were drafted but didn’t pass the pre-screening or the basic training courses. They were let go and were given your discharged papers, letting them know they weren’t a good candidate for the military. There are many factors that cause a person to be an unlikely candidate for the military, therefore that person couldn’t serve or wasn’t drafted.

This was a little background on how the United States got people to serve in the military between 1948 and 1973. What about being in God’s army. What about when you have been called by God.

You might say I decided to make Jesus my choice. Yet the Holy Scriptures says God has chosen us. Jesus stands at the door and is knocking. He is at your heart door waiting for you to accept him. Once we accept him, we now become children of God. Let’s look at how God does the drafting in his army.

As believers in Jesus Christ Eph. 6. [12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Why did God choose people, so they can serve in his army to fight the battle of the foxes that is not of this world. We have been drafted to serve our spiritual duties to what God has called us to do.

Back during the draft days people would get a letter to let them know that they had been drafted. This letter was sent by the government and it was not optional but mandatory to go. When God comes into your life. This is the first stage in serving God.

You might wonder what is next, how do I know what God wants from me. You start wondering and thinking about the next stages of God’s plan for your life. We as believers in Christ are our obligations to God and what he called us into and out of.

The first stage in understanding my life was to know I was drafted into God’s army dto serve and live for him. He gave me the enlistment documents and my duty to go forth and be a witness for his son Jesus Christ. Since I accepted his call I now must be about what my duties have for me to do.

The next topic will be basic training and dealing with the proper information and learning to cope with it all.
