I have talked about what it takes to be a good parent. How a positive influence on the child can help the child to grow into a nice and wonderful person. Today it’s the opposite, how a negative role model can play on a child and his character.
Before we dive into our topic today, I must define what is a negative role model. A negative role model is a person who talks bad about a person to make the person feel less than who they really are. Negativism can make a person feel less whole. They feel like trash and not worthy of doing anything that is worthwhile.
A negative role model could be a parent or a sibling within the family unit. It’s not just put on the father anymore but on the entire household.
When a child is born, the family needs to welcome him or her. Don’t think of this child as a burden, but think of the child as a person with hope and dreams. God created all of us with a purpose and a plan but when people speak or talk negatively in our life we miss the point of it all.
The negative influence could be anything that makes the person less than he or she could be. How can that be. It could be any form of negativity.
Here are some points of negative influence on the child. Abuse of any kind, can have a long lasting effect on a person as they grow into adulthood and beyond. Second is the way the child is giving proper encouragement. If we continue to criticize a child in a negative way he or she will walk into life to be a negative person. Being a negative person their view point will always be negative at times.
The more a child has a negative role model how would they now and understand the true value of things from a positive perspective.
What would be the mindset of a person who has been abused of negativity as a child. How would they see and view things in life. Will that influence make the child think differently about themselves. How would negativity in a child’s life affect his relationship with others as he or she grows from childhood to adulthood.
Will the child experience some moments of being less of a person, a monet of isolation from a group. All of those things need to be taken into consideration when a negative role model has influence in a child’s life.
We see with our own eyes those outward things a person might do that may cause a child to do negative things. We don’t consider some things negative. Drinking, smoking, lying, cheating and stealing are things we see from the outward but inwards it’s really harder to relate to the emotional and verbal abuse a child takes from a negative role model.
If a child has a negative role model in their life, how do we get the child to change his thinking and pattern of a negative person. Tomorrow it’s about the proper mindset of a child. When we talk down to the child in a negative way it does something to his or her being. When we reinforce a person with positive thinking he or she will view life differently..
To conclude our discussion for today in this final thought is this. God is positive, God is love, God is wonderful. To see the wonderful things of God can help us to see the positive things in life. God created life into man. What he created was good. With God we see the positivity for his creation. He allows men to walk on this earth, in spite of their wrong doing. Yet in their wrong doing God sends Jesus Christ into the world to redeem us from our sins. The sin of unbelief and into a way of living right for God.
Remember a child will be affected by both negative and positive influences. The more a person speaks wrongly to a child, the later years of the child could be somewhat of an emotional strain on that person. Reinforce positivity into a child’s life so he or she can be all they can be in their heart mind soul and spirit.
