What do we know about God being the heavenly father. We need to first look at the facts Jesus said about him and his heavenly father. Both sets of scripture reference the fact that God the FATHER AND JESUS CHRIST ARE IN EACH OTHER. According to JOHN 14:20-22 and John 17:20
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
John 17:20-21 KJV
At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
John 14:20-21 KJV
What is Jesus saying here. In John 14:21 He is saying the time is coming when you will realize I am in my Father, and you are in me and I in you. He also said it during the time he was praying. Jesus said he was not just praying for those at that time but for the future believers in Jesus Christ. They will come to be as one. Being on one accord and one mind and spirit. As God the Father and Jesus are in each other. He prayed that the believers would be in them. Jesus said this as he was praying, plus he said also that the world may believe the Father had sent him.
The spirit of the Father lives in the believers. The reason why Jesus has said it twice on two different occasions. Why is this important to know. As we serve Christ we need to reverence God and all that he has done. Why we reverence God is because of those points we will be looking into this week.
The first point is because of God the father is faithful. He will never forsake us or leave us alone. You see that all across the bible. When people made a mistake and asked God for their forgiveness God didn’t leave them. God is faithful from generation to generation.
The word faithful means remaining loyal and steadfast. God is loyal to his people from Genesis to revelation. God is love and he loves on all but yet he is faithful to those who believe in him and in Jesus Christ. Jesus said he can’t do anything unless the father tells him. Since God is faithful to will we remain faithful to him.
I remember I walked with God in youth. Later in my teenage years I was able to do things to help others in their relationship with God. I was faithful in what people had me to do for God. Not knowing it was God’s plan for me to be in that position. When God really called me out to be a minister I ran. I wasn’t being faithful to God. Yet God was still with me as I went ahead and did my own selfish desires.
God being the father, because he placed something on me I couldn’t hide from him. He was there telling and reminding me of the work that he had for me to do.
God was faithful to me, he was being steadfast in my life. He had faith in me to deliver a message of hope to people. Yet when I wasn’t faithful towards God he was faithful towards me. His faithfulness towards me helped me to see, his plan for my life. 25 years of saying no to God he didn’t give up on me because of his faithfulness he had in me and knowing that God the Father had a plan for my life.
What I am saying, some will run away from God, but God will always be faithful to his own. God is faithful, and his word is true, from Genesis to REVELATION. This is why we need to reverence God as the Father because of his faithfulness towards us.
Join us tomorrow as we look into God the father from the point he is the Almighty God.
