Genesis chapter 2 we find the creation of man. What is so unique about the creation of man. What was the purpose of man. Why did God place Adam in the garden. Another focus behind the creation of man is what is that living soul. We also find out the reason behind the 7th day rest that God took. What two actions were taken by God on that day.
Today we will be focusing on the first few verses of Genesis chapter 2.
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
Genesis 2:1-3 KJV
The 7th day God rested. He rested because he finished the work that he created. On the 7th day God sanctified it. Sanctified means to set it apart from the rest. He not only sanctified it but he blessed it. This means he consecrated that day to be set aside from all he has created.
The story I heard a long time ago and it is within the Proverbs, when your work is done you are able to sit down and rest. Knowing you can enjoy the fruit of your labor. This is why God blessed and sanctified the 7th day because his work was completed. All he had created was counted as good.
No matter if Saturday or Sunday is your day of worship. We need to be counted as being blessed and sanctified because of the work of God.
Today is just the beginning of looking into Genesis chapter 2. Today it was looking at the blessing and sanctification of the 7th day.
