Romans chapter 11 is a new study for this week. Don’t know how God is going to use me this week but however it is it will be great.
Today’s lesson is a reminder we are not alone. Godis with us every step of the way. Lets look at the scripture to see what Paul was saying.
I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying, “Lord, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life”? But what does the divine response say to him? “I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
Romans 11:1-5 NKJV
Paul l, was making a statement to those at Rome. Has God cast away His people. Has God done away with the nation Israel. He replied certainly not. Paul said he is part of the seed of Abraham. He is part of the tribe of Benjamin. God is still using his people, he hasn’t cast them away from who he foreknew. In other words Israel is God’s chosen nation. He can destroy a nation that is his.
Paul then talks about Elijah. Elijah thought he was the only prophet left. The enemy has come and destroyed everything and has left me alone, plus they want to kill me. God in whom Paul calls him divine, responded to this by saying there are a few people that are left. They haven’t bowed down to baal.
Paul switches to the modern age he was in and continued on to say. Even in this present time there are remnants of people according to the election of grace.
Why was Paul giving people this message. This message was to let them know at that time don’t lose hope. There are other people doing for God on what I am doing. They are doing this by the election of God’s grace. They are not doing this for God and not a show of any man.
Today we have people who love to do what God has called them to do. Yet at times they feel like the words they preach aren’t reaching others. At times they feel as if they are the only ones preaching the truth about God and his love.
Remember God has many who are preaching his truth in love. You don’t need to feel that way because God has called you out and into service for him.
He will never leave us alone. The work he started in us, it will continue until the day Christ comes. Keep on doing what God has given us to do.
Tomorrow it’s not about our works, but our faith in doing the right thing in God.
