Today as we look more into the book of Romans, let’s see what Paul was saying to those in Rome.
In chapter one of Romans it talks about the state of human beings. We concluded with that by saying, because of one may sin action, human beings became sinners. They disrespected God and all that he stood for. When you do something good or bad it can have an effect on a person’s life. In other words, actions do have consequences. What one man did it created a ripple affect across the entire world
We also said the purpose of man was to subdue the earth and take care of it. God gave man a home in the garden of Eden. Gave him all that he needed. God gave man a woman to be his soulmate. When his soulmate messed up and gave Adam the fruit that God told Adam not to eat , sin entered the world. The relationship between man and God was broken. Yet there came Jesus to die once and for all. His death, burial, and resurrection gave people the right to became children of God if they believe and receive what Jesus stood for and God’s love.
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification. For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)
Romans 5:12-17 NKJV
These five scripture is a lot to contain but the above writing put clarity to part of today’s reading. The second part of the ready is talking about a free gift from God. Let’s go deeper to see the truth.
When somebody gives you a gift, you can receive it or not. The gift is yours now. It doesn’t belong to the person who gave it to you any more. You have the right to do whatever you want with it. Yet the gift that God has given the world doesn’t work like that. This free gift that God gives us through Jesus Christ is a reflection of God’s love. Why is the gift God has given us so unique.
The gift brings life and not death. In the court of law when a person is found guilty of a crime he will be sentence according to the crime. In some cases the judge give people the maximum penalty for that special crime. With God, his creation, man did sin and went against that one law. The law was broken. He did fine man an woman a punishment for their sin and because of that many died. To God he created man with a purpose to love him and to built a relationship with him. How would this relationship be restored.
When Jesus Christ died it set off another event. That was God’s plan of salvation. Some key words within the scripture are grace, gift, judgement, condemnation, justification. All of those words means something and to use them in one true sentence would be like this.
Adam disobeyed God. For this disobedience, judgement and condemnation came into the world. Men own nature cause that to happen. The unrighteous state of a man cause God to have hurt and made him angry. The justification came upon the cross, it was a gift from God. To those who receive this gift of salvation they are now made righteous in God sight. This was God design and purpose inorder for man to have the right relationship Him.
In Jesus Christ we have life, in him we have God’s love within us. Remember you may receive Christ ,but we still have to walk by faith in God. Walk in God and to continue to allow the Holy Spirit to fill us every day. It’s not just a one time thing but it’s a life time of living for God, and allowing God to live through us.
Today lesson was to show death came through Adam but life came through Jesus Christ. With that being said. Since salvation is a free gift from God. Live your life by the faith in God . Knowing with God all things can be possible. Keep in mind your freedom in Christ don’t give you the right to do whatever you wants to do. More details later. For now let’s be reminded the free gift that comes from God. Since it comes from God through his Son Jesus Christ. Knowing in Jesus Christ we can experience the abundance life in him.
The final take away is to know these truth and understand the power of redemption. Knowing how it all works, so you can grow into a better understanding of the things of God.
