We are on the finally gift. This gift is know as the gift of interpreting tongue. How is this gift use within the body of Christ. Is it still used today in churches, if so how is this gift used. Those questions and many others will be answered today.
Within my lifetime I have seen the interpretation of tongues used over a dozen times. I grew up Baptist, there wasn’t a need for the interpretation of tongues because speaking in tongues wasn’t a common thing among the Baptist church I went to. Not saying it wasn’t used in other Baptist churches in the 70’s or the 80’s.
When we study the book of Acts, there was a need for the people to speak in other languages. The need was for others to know that Jesus Christ died for their sins and people can be made righteous in God.
There must be a need for both the speaking in tongue ant the interpretation of tongue. The need is to see the power of the Holy Spirit and God manifesting in a believer. Speaking in tongues is the way the holy spirit comes to equip the body of Christ for action.
After a word comes from a person speaking in tongue, there will be a person to interpret what was said. This can only be done by God’s power that is working. We may not understand what the person is saying while they are speaking, but it does something to other believers in Christ.
One account was a person from out of nowhere as the worship and praises was happening, this person started to speak. The words she spoke was strange, but you could feel the spirit within the church. Few moments later the interpretation came forth. The interpretation that was given was for correction and edification.
This is how those two gifts should operate in the body of Christ. Everything should be done in order. We also understand in some churches gift of tongue and interpretation of tongue still operates in worship services across the world.
This gift comes with being in line with God and the Holy Spirit. When a church is operating from the full power of God, these gifts could manifest themselves within the church. Without the faith and belief in these two gifts, we are quenching the operation of the gifts through the body of Christ. Holy Spirit gives us power in operating these gifts according to our faith.
With our faith in God, the Holy Spirit enables us to receive those special gift. The scriptures says
But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.
I Corinthians 12:11, 31 NKJV
Inconclusive we like to say, whatever gifts God placed on you, use that gift for the upbuilding of God’s kingdom. Don’t waste it, glory God within it.
