As believers in Christ we understand Jesus Christ death on the cross, but what about his burial? Today we are going to see what believers gain because of Jesus Christ burial. Today is a continuation on the subject beyond the cross.
When when look at one scripture of the bible and it’s reads from Galatians 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20 KJV
With this passage of scripture we are crucified with Christ. Meaning as a believer in him when we come to Christ, our sin nature was done away with. Meaning we are now obligated to live for Christ in a new life and a new way. Not looking backwards but looking forward to that blessed hope we have in Christ.
As Christ died on the cross and we have given our life to him. We also died in Christ. Christ death goes beyond time and space. Christ bore the sins of the world upon himself. Past, present, and future. Since Christ died on the cross he put to death the unrighteousness deeds we have done in our lives. Yet if we do sin, we ask God to forgive us and he will. He won’t condem us for it. If we continue to do the same sin over and over without repentance than you will have consequences to pay. As the scripture said the life I now live in the flesh or in this body I live by faith of the Son of God. We now should be living by the faith of Jesus Christ. How was his faith he pleased and served his heavenly father until death.
Since Christ died and then buried what does it means for a believer in Jesus Christ.
Since we know Christ bore the sins of the world upon himself and yours. This indicate as his blood was shed upon the cross the forgiveness of our sin was taken place. We know this of two things what Jesus said it is finished and God turned his back on Jesus. God can’t look upon sin so Jesus was separated from God at this point.
Let’s look at Romans 6:4-7 KJV Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.
When we prepared to receive Christ as our savior. There should be an understanding of what is being done. It is a transferring of ownership. We are asking God thru the way of Jesus Christ to restore our relationship with God. Serval steps take place at this time. First one is we have given up our sinful state of unrighteousness to a new life of righteousness towards God. When a people are baptize it is an indication that they have been buried with Christ. All that sins Jesus took upon himself on the cross, it was buried with him
Before we are born with a fleshly nature. It is carnal and don’t know of the things of God. As God moves on us, we open up to his ways and then once our eyes are open to the truth we will accept the fact about Jesus Christ. We are drawn to him by the preach word. Jesus stands at our hearts door waiting waiting for us to open the door to let him in.
As we open the door to let him into our life it’s a new life now. A new nature, the spiritual side of things but yet we are still in this human body and the old man is still there. We must realize the obligation to us now is to live in the new life of Christ Jesus. Since Christ was buried. We are also buried with in to the point we have a new identity in Christ
This is a key in understanding our relationship with Jesus Christ and God. We are buried with him and we can put to death those deeds of unrighteousness because the spirit of God lives in us..
We will continue this on tomorrow how do we deal with both nature with us the flesh man and the spiritual man. Remember as Jesus was on earth he was both son of man and son of God. Being in Christ we can now relate to his truth and ways.
We like to inform all this is a teaching from givinHope Evangelistic Ministry with evangelist John Corum. The Holy Spirit has reveal this truth to me. Will continue on this subject until God has said it’s time to move on. Until then be ready for the next teaching soon. Beyond the cross new and old nature within the believer.
