We coming from the book of Joshua. Chapter 7 speaks about this one man who went against the command of God. He wasn’t the first and won’t be the last to do such thing.
Your actions had consequences. We see how this man action really had people on the edge. Truth will always come to the light. You can only lie ao many times until you are exposed for that lie.
In chapter 7 of the book of Joshua it start off on the wrong note about Achan. He took some of the items from the ruins of Jericho.
But the Israelites were unfaithful in regard to the devoted things; Achan son of Karmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of them. So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel.
Joshua 7:1 NIV
We notice the next few verse about Isrealites went out to battle but was defeated. Joshua and the elders tore their clothes and fell facedown to the ground before the ark of the Lord. They was weeping because of the lost and fear that the Lord had not fulfilled his promises.
The Lord reply to this by saying
The Lord said to Joshua, “Stand up! What are you doing down on your face? Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions. That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction.
Joshua 7:10-12 NIV
When a person sinned he effects the entire nation. When it came to Achan he really messed up. First of all you my hide things from people but God always know. God first said this stand up. Here are the reason why you was defeated today. Isreal has sinned. They violated my covenant, They have taken some of the devoted things. They had stolen, lied. Not just that they have those things in their possession.
Many today are just an Achan. We go into the enemy camp and we steal things from them, but God warned us of the danger in it. You can’t mess with God. Obey his commands and do what he requires of us. People have turned their back on God without even knowing it. Your actions against God will have an effect on others around you.
You are accountable to your action. They knew someone did wrong because they fled from their enemy, a battle they could won. God even told Joshua what could happen if what was stolen isn’t destroyed.

Recap the focus today of God. We have an obligation to do as a believer in Jesus and God. This obligation is we can’t go agaist the command or instructions. Each day many breaks his commands and instructions, that is why we need to ask God to forgive us. In Achan case that was an issue God had. He lied and stole, which cause them to loose a battle. Most of all he directly violated a direct order from God.
People who believer be careful on how you handle things. Dot listen to God might end up to ve your down all.
