When we look at the battle in the Old Testament, the army was set out to do their job. Their job was to win the battle or fight that they was fighting in. The Israelites has a army people was afraid of, because God was on their side.
Those in Jericho knew the Israelites army was about to attack the land. We see this in the first verse of Joshua 6. They had their city fortified so people wouldn’t come in or go out. They thought they was well secured.
Now the gates of Jericho were securely barred because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in.
Joshua 6:1 NIV
Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.”
Joshua 6:2-5 NIV
The enemy may think one thing but God has a plan to bring down the enemies camp. When we are facing a battle God always will provide for us if we listen to his instructions. The plan of escape has already been written but we need to follow the guidelines. Within the bible it tells us to shout unto the Lord. Give God the praise. Never forget his awesome love.
God gave a plan to Joshua and told him how the battle will be won. He told the people the instructions of the Lord and they did so.
Joshua got up early the next morning and the priests took up the ark of the Lord. The seven priests carrying the seven trumpets went forward, marching before the ark of the Lord and blowing the trumpets. The armed men went ahead of them and the rear guard followed the ark of the Lord, while the trumpets kept sounding. So on the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. They did this for six days.
Joshua 6:12-14 NIV
We are in a battle. The battle is the forces of darkness in the heavenly realm. We equip our lives according to the word of God. We allow God to take charge over our life. We no longer belong to this world but we are in the army of God. Those who has ask Christ Jesus into their lives we are fighting the good fight of faith. The bible is the blueprint on how living under God’s power and authority will keep us victorious. We need to lean and trust in Jesus.
The instructions given to Judah was simple. March around the walls only one time as the trumpets keep sounding. Two things we see here moving and sounding. As we move in our faith, making melody with God. Meaning our voices are the trumpets playing. Telling others the good news about the gospel of Jesus Christ. What happen on the seven day was a shaken in the land.
On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak and marched around the city seven times in the same manner, except that on that day they circled the city seven times. The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army, “Shout! For the Lord has given you the city! The city and all that is in it are to be devoted to the Lord. Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall be spared, because she hid the spies we sent.
Joshua 6:15-17 NIV
Two things different on the seven day. It was the number of times they walk around the wall and the shout. It a reminder we shout the praises of God to defeat our enemies. We carry the banner of God. We shout his name, we march towards the battle and stand firm in our faith. When we do this the enemy will fall.
This is how we win the battle listen, March and send out a war cry. Listen to God’s instructions, do as it tell us to do. March towards the cross and lift high the name of Jesus Christ. His death on the blood seals us forever. A life wonderful and free. We must obey and trust in him. Shout unto the Lord, songs of victory. I know I been there and God was able to allow me to get the victory.
We can win the battle. We are victorious in our life because of the blood of Jesus Christ covers us. Fear the Lord out of reverence and you will be amazed of what God can do. The battles belong to God just give it over to him.
