Today its about how people responded to the message Paul was teaching and preaching. Some acted within a good way. People had a very bad attitude towards Paul’s message. While other true nature came out towards Paul. They got many people to go against Paul’s teaching to the point they got the crowd in an uproar.
Acts 17:5-9 KJV
But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also; whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Cæsar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus. And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things. And when they had taken security of Jason, and of the other, they let them go.
The Good
We notice there was some good people with the passage of scripture. Those was the one that protected Paul after the group of people made their way to Jason house. Paul on his missionary journey is now in Thessalonica. He had a mix crowd of people that was around him. Those that was good made sure Paul left the city before the crowd could get to him. Paul was only doing what he was commissioned to do. Preach and teach the word. Although out his journey there was people who gave their life to Jesus Christ. The heard the message about Jesus Christ and believe and was baptized. We also found that the same people was filled with the Holy Spirit. One thing about good people is they might have a desire to do good things, yet it wont make you get to heaven. Must believe and recieve God wonderful gift of salvation. Once we gain salvation we are part of God’s family. Not being a slave to sin, but be a slave to righteousness that is found in God. Finally it not about just doing good, it about receiving Christ as your Savior and Lord. A right to God’s kingdom if we continue to live for God.
The Bad
There are people who are bad. They are bad because of their nature. In the text today we are witnessing things that the bad people was doing against Paul. We know Paul was the one Jesus came to and told him what he was suppose to do. Over the course of time he might have been whipped , yet God was with Paul and the others. The bad people whereever the Apostles went, there was always people that would opposed their teaching. In spite of it all they still continue to preach the word of God. Today in our text some people that didn’t care for Paul started a riot against him and the others at this time. The unrighteous people they don’t want to here the word preached, they don’t want to believe in Jesus Christ. They don’t want to change. Those people got a group of people and set the city in an uproar. At time the bad will come out in people and cause a havoc
The ugly side
This havoc that the people cause was to go after the men of God. People didn’t like the message that was given by Paul. They wanted to find the Apostle and the others, to cast them into jail. Paul and those that was with him was able to leave overnight with the help of those who believe. The bad in people really is ugly once it shows. We saw it in this chapter was what happen when people don’t want to change and trying to get people to go against the truth. The truth is God word. A mob of people seeking out to get Paul and others.
The message today was showing you about hatred and what happens when the hatred get out of control. A mob of people going after a person who they didn’t care for. Let us love each other. Show some compassion
Finally, today lesson Paul was able to find a way out before the crowd got to him. God is able to help you to find you a safe place or a away out.
