We took time out to say happy Mother’s day to all. We are still traveling with Paul on his missionary journey. This would be his second, he has encountered lots of people. Today let see where he went to and the message he sent to the people.
Acts 17:1-4 KJV
Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews: and Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ. And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.
Paul is now in Thessalonica. This week we will see what happen while Paul was in this region. Remember he was on a mission to carry the gospel of hope to the people. So as he went from town to town he showed the love of in his action and his speaking
Things we see Paul doing in Thessalonica was he went to the synagogue. Second he reasoned with them the scripture. He went there three sabbath to let them know about Jesus Christ. As we do things in life we need to let our light shine before men. That light is Jesus Christ. We see many come to know Christ as they taught or preached the word.
The very first thing he did was he went to the place of worship. This was important because it let us know where his heart is. It is for service of the Lord. Not only did he go to the synagogue but he told them about the risen Christ. Jesus Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.
The results of Paul’s teaching and preaching many came to know Jesus Christ. The scripture says And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few. This is telling us two things some people will believe while other have a deaf ear to the word, no matter how long you preach or minister to them. They are stuck in their own ways.
As we witnessed here was Paul’s going into the synagogue. It was a place of worship. The place of worship, should be the one place we should go each chance we get. They were custom of doing this task. We see once Paul and the other get to a town they go to the synagogue. Do you have that urgency to go to church each Sunday despite those things around you. As we worship God we need to get the understanding that there is power as we worship God. This was out of love for God and traveling so long time they need the place to praise and worship God regardless what other might say.
Again it reminds us when the word is preached it should bring a change in those around you and yourself. That change should be taking off the old self and putting on the new man. Each day there should be time to have that personal encounter with God. We do that by praying, worship and praising him most of all reading the Bible. Most people won’t choose God or Jesus and they don’t know about a place called the lake of fire. Peple soul and spirit will be tormented for ever and ever. No rest for weary.
Finally Paul preached the word so people can have hope and not despair. Showing other the love God has for us all. Some at the time didn’t like the message of grace that Paul preached. Paul had a mind stayed on God. His belief was based on the truth which opened the doors for others to recieve from Jesus and God.
Tomorrow we will look at how the crowd respond to Paul. Evangelist John Corum Email us at ghem.org@outlook.com for more information on this special night
