Reaction- Paul turned to the spirit
No question asked. He addressed the source of the situation
The demon
Address the source and not the problem
You can be treated for high blood pressure but unless you attack why a person have high blood pressure it wont be solved.
Paul didnt talk to the lady but the demon itself.
Paul spirit was feeling bad for the woman. His heart ache for her.
Consequences of his action we are looking into today.
Paul was only doing what God wanted him to do. Yet when he delivered the girl from the demonic spirit he never thought what his action will cost him. Yet God still find a way to work it out.
Here what happen on that day
Acts 16:19-24 KJV
And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers, and brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city, and teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans. And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them . And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
Results of his action was he was put into prison. The place in the prison was the inner most part of the prison. Totally dark and a scary place to be. He was isolated from the others in prison.
Why was he put into prison? He was there because of action. Doing the right thing at the right time. People got mad because Paul Delivered the girl of an evil spirit.
The event that Paul did made the master of the girl mad. He realize no more income is coming in. He was using the girl to make money.
The man was mad so his action was to get back at Paul. He took him to the magistrates to put charges against Paul.
1. HE IS PROCLAIM UNKNOW TEACHING AND IS CAUSING LOTS OF DISTURBANCE IN THE TOWN.
2 THEIR TEACHING IS UNLAWFUL WHAT SHOULD BE THEIR PUNISHMENT.
THE ACTION OF THE CROWD AGAINST PAUL AND OTHERS
PEOPLE OF THE CITY ROSE UP AGAINST THEM
THEIR CLOTHES WAS RIPPED RIGHT OFF OF THEM BY THE MAGISTRATES.
THE MAGISTRATES COMMANDS WAS TO BEAT THEM.
WHAT PAUL DID, FREED THE GILR FROM THE DEMONIC FIT THE PUNISHMENT.
The custom for many when they was put on trail or a public display of not obeying the law was to be whipped and beaten. Some was more harsh than other, yet it was a way to put punishment on people that dose a crime. They thought what Paul and other was doing was a crime.
Jesus went through much more torture than Paul and silias. He didnt do a crime yet he was found to be guilty.
They was put into prison to be put on trail the next day.
What happened overnight was a shocker. Looking at how God turned a bad situation into a great experience
Remember this Christ suffer and died for you and I. We can have life through christ. A freedom for our spiritual man. Life in christ not in this world. Ask God to come into your life by believing and receiving what Christ did. Knowing he is God only begotten son. He died on the cross and rose again by God power.
