Timothy Joins Paul and Silas

As Paul continue his missionary journey he came to a town near Derbe and Lystra.

What was Paul main reason to go to the city.

1. To bring Timothy along with him.

2. Continue to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

3. To encourage and build up the churches in the area.

Timothy a man who believed in God. A person who Paul wrote to. There are two books of Timothy. Paul instructions to can be found in 2 Timothy. He charge Timothy to do the work of an evangelist. Make full proof of the ministry.

Why was this important at this time. People was put into a position of leadership but not doing what they was assigned to do. Paul reminded Timothy to preach the word. Be ready to preach in or out of season. Understanding that at times you might not able to teach or preach the word, but Paul was reminding Timothy just be ready because you don’t know when God or the Holy Spirit will call you to minister the word.

The teaching and preaching the word is important because it can

1. Reprove (correction) Can help other to know how to change ones life. To change a person way of thinking towards God.

2. Rebuke (sharp disapproval ) when it comes to teaching the word it come to rebuke a person action toward sins. This can make people made but also it can bring people into the family of God.

These two things when the word is taught right, out of love and saying it from the heart is a better way than fusing and getting into an argument. The word will change a person once they receive it.

3. Exhort with patience. As we give warnings or advice or even make urgent appeals as we preach and teach we need to be patient with other. People already have their mind set on the things of God. As we encourage or help them see a better view of God we must have take our time with them.
