A word for today

The fill up
Acts 8:14-17

When we think of being filled up we mostly think about putting gas in the car. Yet when it come to the Christian life we need to be fill with the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit enpowers the believers for service. Without the Holy Spirit in the lives of a believer they become less effective for the kingdom of God. When a battery is low on charge in a flashlight, the light it’s shinning is dim. That is the way our power is in service for God. Without the Holy Spirit working itself in our life we are like a flashlight with low battery or a dead battery. It not operating in full capacity.
Look what happen in today text
Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
Acts 8:14-17 KJV
This still remind me about what Jesus said in the book of John Chapter 14.
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
John 14:16-17 NIV
“All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
John 14:25-26 NIV
Several points to take away from this is
1. Peter and John went to see if the people has recieved the Holy Spirit.
This tells us believers need to recieve the Holy Spirit also. Jesus himself said in John that the Holy Spirit will.
1 .help you
2. Be with you forever
3. The world can’t accept him because they neither knows or see him.
4. Teach you all things
5. Remind you all that Jesus has sent you.
This is only just a sample of why it’s important to recieve the Holy Spirit.
At that time it was really important that the act of recieving was done by the apostles. They were the one who the Holy Spirit fell upon first. With the laying on the hands was a way for God spirit to flow into other by the vessal God used.
Looking into Acts 8:14-17 nobody had recieve the Holy Spirit. The gift from God so we can be more effective witness for him. After Peter and John prayed and laid hands on the people they recieved the Holy Spirit.
Are people weak in their faith because they habve not recieve the filling of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Do people know the working of the Holy Spirit. Are they taught why the Holy Spirit is the third part of the trinity. Do they realize what John 14 is all about.
As believers in Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit is one of the key function for us in our relationship with God. It will guide us into all truth. Help us to remember things of Christ. Most of all it will empower us for service unto God.
This writing is just a jumpstart to let you know about the Holy Spirit. There are lots more things written on the Holy Spirit such as his function and his purpose. How does the Holy Spirit move in the life of the believers.
Finally, today truth was to introduce somebody to the Holy Spirit. I do believe the Holy Spirit God has sent us. Part of it all is the big debate when we ask Jesus to be our savior does the holy spirit come at that time. Yet in our text for today many recieved the Holy Spirit after their conversion. The true message today we must recieve the Holy Spirit and let him be a key part in our relationship to God. Be filled or fill up on the Holy Spirit and your life wiil have much more insight to tbe things of God.
Ask and recieve the Holy Spirit if you haven’t done it yet.
