ACTS 12
WEDNESDAY APRIL 15 2020
What have you been assigned to do?
What does the word assignment mean?It is a task given to someone to complete. What was the assignments given out in Acts 12? We are going to look at each on and see how it will help us in our christian faith.
1. The assignment was from Herod to have Peter locked up and put into prison.
2 The saints are praying for Peter
3. The mission of the angel
4. Paul had to show himself to others to let them know he been set free.
Why are these assignments important for us to know. It gives us a meaning and understanding of how God is in control of things. Only one task wasn’t fully completed. That was the death of Peter at this time. God already had people in place so the death of Peter wasn’t to happen.
The second assignment was the saints was praying earnestly. Why was this the case? During this time God power was strong because people faith wasn’t tainted and they truly believe in God’s power. They was praying for people but do we know what the prayers was about? The bible don’t give out that information all it said they were earnestly seeking God. If they can do it why not us. Our task or assignment to seek God earnestly. With all your heart. The key for Peter release was the saints were praying. Part of our life with Christ and with God always pray. Prayer will change things in us and around us.
The third assignment which took place was the task of the angel. For it could be easy to pray. The angel had to come down and rescue Peter for prison. This required more effort and work than praying. God heard the prayers of the saints. He moved on their behalf. He sent an angel out to rescue Peter. Was the angel assignment easy. This was hard to tell. Did the angel do as he was assigned to do? YES. He was able to realease Peter from prision but it was by God’s power. He awaken Peter, told him what to do, and Peter followed the angel out and pass the gate. The power of God unfolded as well, the gates open up by themselves.
Remember the saints are still praying for Peter. The first phase of prayer God already had answered it. To those who are praying this is unknown to them. God is answering our prayer as we are still praying. We might not see the manifestation of it right than and there but it being done as we we are praying.
The fourth assignment was Peter had to get to the house where the people was praying. We see in the scripture when Peter came to himself he realized what was going on. He said lets go to Mary’s house. He went to the place they wad praying. His assignment I do think was to show others God does answer prayer.
When a student complete their homework assignments he turn it in as a prove that it was done. Looking at Peter he might not know the people was praying but it is the evidence that God has done his part as the prayer went forth. Yet when a person hands in their assignment the teaching might question the student did they really do it by themselves. The faith factor. The people didnt know it was Peter. They didn’t have faith in knowing God was doing as they was praying. The evidence to show prayer in action.
We all have an assignment to do for God. We must complete that task inorder for others to know about God and Jesus. We need to do our part and allow God to do his. Don’t lose faith if it doesn’t look like what you want. God plan is working and as long as we are doing what God has assign us to do than what more do we need to do.
