Calm in middle of crisis

Acts 12

Pray earnestly-The church was praying for Peter

The focal point of this message is to see how Peter was at rest in the middle of a crisis.

We know from looking at ACTS 12 what is the fate of Peter. Peter was to be killed the day after the Jewish passover holiday.

Acts 12:1‭-‬4 KJV

Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

While Peter was in prison the saints of God was praying for him. I believe they was praying with power. God moved on their behalf and we see Peter in the jail asleep.

He was resting in God. He wasn’t worried. I do think he knew what ever state to be in is to have the assurance God will cause everything to happen for God.

Remember earlier in ACTS it was Peter that proclaim the news on the day of Pentecost. What have I to lose my life. My life is hidden in Christ so if i die because of him than my life is worth it all. Christ gave his life, so I can live with him both in tbe present world and the world to come. I do think this was on Peter’s mind.

He was resting eventhough he had to face death the next day. How can he have the assurance to sleep well. He have witness things during the time he was with Christ. Now being in Christ he didn’t have to fear. He knew what Jesus meant by greater works you will do. He knew about the Holy Spirit. He was an eyewitness of the healing power of God. I do believe Peter regardless of his fate he trusted God to pull him through.

Remember through the storm and the rain or sickness or pain, I will trust in the Lord to see me through. Be calm in the midst of a crisis God is working it out. Instead of worrying, pray seek God and he will guve you the assurance you need in every situation you might be facing.

Be like Peter having the confidence in God you can rest in the midst of facing death. When your back is agaist the wall, just know God is going to work it out in his favor.
