Jesus Christ his work continues with the believers. One thing we know salvatiion comes only through Jesus Christ. His death burial and resurrection sealed the deal. The only way to get to God is through Jesus Christ. It not by works you do. It’s not just being a good person. The only way to the father God is by the way of his son Jesus Christ.
Jesus stated in Luke 4:14-21 some of his mandate. Yet he his no longer here on earth. We as believers in Jesus Christ need to continue in his ways. Each day we will break down what Jesus said. We are going to look at it in two prospective. Those prospective is coming from a physical and a spiritual sense.
Luke 4:18-19 KJV
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
This is taken from Isaiah 61:1-2 as Jesus was reading it
Each word that Jesus spoke tell what he was to do. Why was the Spirit of the Lord upon him? It was there to remind us he was anointed to do those things listed in the scripture. If Jesus was anointed to do those things and in John he told his disciples this
John 14:12 KJV
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Yet his word still speaks to us today and Jesus said greatet works shall he do also. They key point is that he that believes on Jesus will do tbe greatet works. We can’t just go out but we must believe on Christ and all that he did and stand for.
The first thing he said to preach the good news to the poor. Who are the poor. We think of the poor as somebody who really do have that much money to substain them in the world we live in. That is tje physical side of things. Things we notice in life. What if Jesus was talking about their spiritual need.
One definition of the word poor is tbe lacking of something. What is the world lacking today? It is the true gospel being preach and taught in tbe world today. In the book of Acts Peter stood up with boldness and deliver a message of hope to the people. I truly believe what Jesus had in mind for tbe believers to do is to continue hi work. Go out and preach the gospel to the poor. Both who are physical and spiritual poor. They need to hear the gospel message of truth.
The truth is salvation, spiritual freedom comes only through Jesus Christ. He died so we could live. We can have life and life to the full. The fullness comes in knowing we are victorious in Jesus. We can walk and talk with God as the people of old did. People like Abraham,Moses, Daniel. Plus have a strong relationship with God as well. Such people as David, Job, the hebrew boys.
Jesus said greater works you will do. The work is to tell others the gospel truth and let those who is poor, to see Jesus Christ in a way they never seen him before. Again you can be rich but still be poor in the sight of God. Carry the message of hope to tne world so the poor can see and be filled woth the richness of the things of God.
