God came to many throughout the bible in many ways. God message of good news came by angels, burning bush, messengers sent by God, then Jesus himself appears to Saul who later became Paul.
The personal encounter that a person might get from God could be in many ways today. Those ways could very from person to person but when God speaks to people it’s done through dreams, other people, still small voice that is from the Holy Spirit, and vision. Again God comes to each person different, how he choose to reveal his message to others, or a personal encounter is all up to God himself.
Why do some encounter God personally? We all know that each person who come to God has a gifting or a talent to serve for God. Some God decides to pick personaly to carry the gospel message or the good news to people.
In Ephesians 4:11 speaks on specific people God has pick out to do specific a specific task. Those are know as the 5 fold ministry.
When God pick a person out to be an apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers he is doing that for a reason and a purpose. Each person has their own specific task to do. Each person encounter with God could be different from the next but the main reason for them all is to do the work God had them to do. At one point we will break down each persons task and duty that is assigned to them.
In Ephesians 4:12-16 it talks about the purpose behind them all.
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
Ephesians 4:12-16 KJV
We do have other ministries out there but when God personally come to you and say I have called you out for this reason to become a part of the 5 fold ministry, one must listen and obey his command.
How do we know it’s God calling you? You will feel that tug within your heart, mind, soul and body. It will be something you can’t shake off or run away from. God has you like a fish on a net. You might try to get out of it but the only way to be released is to submit to God authority. Let God free you and serve him and do his will.
What ministry do I go into? God will set you up and you will know for sure where your place is to be. God will show or the spirit will reveal it all to you on the mission God has for you. The reason I know because he doesn’t put people in places where they don’t belong. Take Paul for example he gave him a specific task to do and that is found in Acts 26:16-18
But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26:16-18 KJV
Jesus told Paul a specific task to do in the above scriptures. This was the time he was testifying to King Aggripa about his encounter with Jesus and what task he was to do.
Two type of encounter one is calling a person out to be saved. Meaning to receive Christ as their personal savior. To bring about change in a person for the better. God move on others so that they can experience the abundant Life. A life full of God’s amazing Grace and Mercy. His love and victories over situation one might encounter in life. We don’t know why some are chosen to be ministers of the Gospel but one thing I do know to pass it up and not obeying God is worse than a lifetime sentence in prison.
Again the personal encounter with God will only enhance your life, make you stronger and most of all put you on the right track to do the work or assignment he has for you to do. You just have to keep the faith and trust in God knowing he is in control of it all.
Tomorrow we will break each five-fold ministry down one by one to see how each is special in the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
