What is faith? Why do we have faith in God? These answers can be found in Hebrew chapter 11. Since God is the creater we have to believe and have faith in him. Faith is believing in something you can’t understand but you know it’s true.
Many people today have faith in God but what type of faith do people really are proclaiming. Four type of faith I want to look into today are. Counterfeit faith, mustard seed faith, I believe it when I see it faith, courageous faith.
Those four are just an example of what I went through in life. We going to take the first one is “I believe it when I see it” This type of faith is those people who are skeptical. They don’t believe anything until they see it happens. The time of Noah people were skeptical. They didn’t want to believe in what Noah was doing. They thought he was out of his mind. One day God sent the rain. Those who now was skeptical they believed but it was to late. They missed the mark and the boat went on without them. People today are skeptical because they have faith, but don’t really trust God like they should. When times comes all who was skeptical in the faith, and didn’t have no place for God they will see Christ come in his glory and really see he is the Savior and the deliverer of all mankind.
The second type of faith people might have is counterfeit faith. It the type of faith a person might have when they are around people but yet when they are home they just don’t do what they say. It may look real but it’s totally fake. A person goes around for year and pretend they have the faith in God but yet doubting him while they are alone and by themselves. The look the part but not really acting the part. They are making liers of theirself and other. They never did have the faith that counted. Second carry doubt and fear around with them at all times. The doubt is thing God won’t do this or that. The fears come from a situation that could had happened long time ago and they just don’t see God like they use to. They are hiding behind a false mask. They want be to think they have it all together in God but yet they are feeling worthless. They have counterfeit faith because their faith may look good but really it no good at all.
The next type of faith is the mustard seed faith. Those are people who trust God in everything they do and say. When they speak God works wonders in their lives. They didn’t always have the mustard seed faith. Then things in life happen to them they continue to rely and trust God. Trails and temptation over took them, yet they realize the power God has. They trusted and depended on him for everything. Circumstances happens but yet out of it all people can see how God was able to bring them out. This type of faith works because they have died to things in life and God has given them a newness that they never known before. The mustard faith doesn’t take much. We know that what we went through God brought us out. Therefore we have the faith in him. He will move things out of our way. Not just that but those things we need, God will do it for those who have the mustard seed faith. Mustard seed faith don’t take a lot but it will move mountains out of your way.
The last of many but what God said we all need us courageous faith. The type of faith we can be bold in. The difference between the mustard seed faith and courageous faith is this. Mustard seed faith acts on the inner being but courageous faith is an outward show of your faith towards God. David had courageous faith when he fought the giant Goliath. He said I come before you in the name of God. His complete statement
1 Samuel 17:45-46 KJV
Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
In our walk with God we need courageous faith. We will come across thing we never seen or witness before. To have courageous faith it means we will preach the gospel where God send us. No matter where it might be. We don’t have to have fear but be bold and courageous. God has given us the power to have courageous faith. No fear, no doubt, knowing he put in us the will to do as he has for us to do. This faith comes in knowing and having a strong relationship with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit. Just understand many people in the Bible had courageous faith why not you. Start today and say this.
God I have been slipping in my faith walk. I want to take the mustard seed and courageous faith. The type of faith to have knowing you are able to do things in my life. Plus enable me to have courageous faith that I maybe bold and speak your truth. Let me be able to fight the enemy by your strength and power that works in me.
It’s time to have the faith God wants us to have. Not sitting back and doubting but standing up and believing God is able and will do as he see fit for us to do.
