Jonah his prayer to God

The final last statement Jonah made as he was praying to God and how can we relate that into our lives today.

Jonah 2:8‭-‬10 NIV

Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them. But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord .’ ” And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

Jonah made a bold statement about life. He said those who cling to worthless idols, turn aways from God’s love towards them.

A statement of that magnitude is a powerful. The point is knowing God don’t want us to but anything before him. What ever we put first before God is our idols. The most resounding word in this passage us cling. Cling mean to hang on to. To have a fix grip onto something. Many people have a firm grip to the world they live in. From those little things in life to the finer things to enjoy. If they cling to those thing more than God, then where is the love for God in their lives. We are not to put things in place of God. We must love God and honor him with our heart mind soul and spirit.

At the time of Jonah the only thing they could to is make a convenient with God, make a vow with God, or just try to live holy in God sight. All of those thing are spoken into God and men. They do this to honor and respect God.

Today it a little different. As we give our live to Christ, asking him to be our Savior and Lord, we have now come into a relationship with Christ and also have become apart of God family. We now have come into a convenient relationship with God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. It is up to us to walk in his ways and follow the instructions God has set for us to do.

We who believe and receive Christ are now been set aside to do as the Lord has purpose for them. It’s almost like making a vow with from the time of Jonah. With you Lord I will do as you have commands. Continue to focus each day on God’s instructions and the life he wants you to live. As we do this we can get joy and peace. We can have happiness in God knowing will provide.

Most of all as we have the heart and love for God, we can proclaim his goodness and mercy. At times we may want to shout it from the mountain tops of how wonderful God is. Most of all we know and can tell others salvation comes from the Lord. You are able to be set free.

Once we see all that Jonah prayed for and his final statement. God allow the fish to vommit Jonah to dry land. Some miss the mark by not allowing God to work within their life, to see God and all that he has done. It is enough to give him the praise and honor for. Jonah realized all that God did and in his prayer he never discounted God. He knew God was going to bring him out.

Don’t count God out. He will bring you through. In your darkness moment he will rescue you. Love on God and the thing he is doing. Greater joy comes in doing that.
