I SHALL RISE UP AND OUT

Have you ever felt defeated, down in the gutter, or seen like things around you has taken their toll on you.

Do you know with God help you are able to rise up and out of the situation.

Let’s look at what Jonah said about God is able to deliver him

Jonah 2:5‭-‬7 NIV

The engulfing waters threatened me, the deep surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head. To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you, Lord my God, brought my life up from the pit. “When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, Lord , and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple.

Jonah a messenger sent by God to go to Nineveh to tell the people the good news of God. He decided to go the opposite direction and God sent havoc on his life and others around them. Until he realize a person can’t run away from God

We see Jonah in belly of the fish praying to God. Today two phrase he said we are going to look at 1st one was Lord you brought my life up from the pit. Second is my prayer rose to you.

Jonah now inside the fish surrounded by dead things. He was in a bad place. He yet remember to pray to God and within his prayer he said you brought my life from the pit. Jonah in these verses is thinking God for rescuing his life. To Jonah it seemed as if he was sinking and no where to go. To him the sea might have seem to be a pit. He described it as the earth had no bottom, a mountain that just caved in by the roots, most of all the seaweed that wrapped around his head and the water that was engulfing him. Yet God did provided him a shelter. My not been the best of one but yet God reduced him from the mighty depths of the sea.

At times our life spends out of control. It seems we are behind the right ball or behind the curve. Everything we do and say go wrong. Has God yet forsaken us. No he is right there. He us with us. Wanting us to call on his name for help. God is merciful and gracious. He will rescue us and put us in a place where he can get the glory. All we can say with God in my side I have risen out of the situation. Thanks be to our Lord.

The second part to this is when Jonah prayed he knew his prayers was reaching God and it was to his holy temple. Jonah knew that as the water was rolling away from the shore. He saw this life wasting before him he was praying and most likely asking God for protection and being rescued.

No matter how we look at it God was with Jonah all this time. Jonah knew his prayers was reaching God and he might have had sense to realize what God was doing. No matter what we may go through never give up God want us to have faith, trust and hope in him. In the dangerous moment of time as we pray just know God will help us out of the mess. Even in the best of time as we pray God will continue to help us as we pray to him.

Finally to wrap it all up, we must look at the title very carefully. It says I shall rise up and out. Some people my rise up but not out. The message today or we want to motivate people today is not just to rise up but out of your situations, problems, and things you need help with. Praying and knowing God hears us is the faith God is looking from us. Jonah he might have prayed out at sea, but I could imagine he thank God for saving him. The condition my not be a 5 star hotel but it was a place God could talk with Jonah one on one with no distractions.

To conclude Jesus rescue us, by his death on the cross. The power of it all we have to is reach out and accept his invite. Just ask, receive and know that what Christ did for the world us to give us eternal life. Spiritual life forever and ever.
