A new day, a day in which the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.
People today get really busy. They don’t take the time to sit and see the hand of God in everything. Have you ever wonder why God did to Jonah what he did. Here is the event about Jonah we are looking at today.
Jonah 1:15-17 NIV
Then they took Jonah and threw him overboard, and the raging sea grew calm. At this the men greatly feared the Lord , and they offered a sacrifice to the Lord and made vows to him. Now the Lord provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.
Jonah have know been thrown overboard and a big fish has swallowed him. Is your life like Jonah you feel like you are out at sea during a bad storm. Your been beaten up by things in life and you are about to give in or throw in the towel. What if I told you there is still hope for you. Jonah realized what he did was wrong and he was will to throw himself overboard so others would not perish
There is a person who gave himself for the world inorder for them to life and not perish. His name is Jesus Christ. His death on the cross was the ransom he paid for us. He gave his life so we could live.
The look into chapter two of Jonah will look deeper this coming week. We will break it into section to really get why Jonah was praying to God. For now let look at have you ever wonder why God had to isolate Jonah from the world. Why in a fish, at what point did God said Jonah you are out and free.
The factor today is sometimes God has to put us into isolation from the world inorder for us to grow in him. Earlier I said we get to the end of the rope and it seem like we about to loose all hope but God comes in and do the work in our lives. It maybe big or small but whatever and however he does it, we can become restored.
I do think God had to get Jonah to the place where he can trust God in all that he does. Are we at that point trusting in God in all that we do and say. Another thing Jonah being in the belly of a fish he couldn’t run from God. Many people God has chosen but they decide to run in the opposite direction. When got works on your heart, mind, soul, and spirit there is no place to hide. Either you die fighting the calling. Meaning you never gave in to answer the calling and you died without doing God’s plan for your life. While others they do answer the call, but not until they really see the hand of God within it all
Finally God aressted Jonah and put him into a place of realizing who God is. God does this with many today. He puts them in there place inorder for them to grow in him and in the word.
As we closed today we have to see and understand thing about Jonah in a different prospective. Looking from not men’s point of view put from God view point. God sent him, he went the other way, God cause things to happen while on the boat, big fish swallowed Jonah, he was in belly of the fish for 3 days and 3 nights. God had to rescue Jonah before he went to far. Here we are saying do as God want or call you to do for service of him. People are counting on you. Salvation will come to them because of you proclaiming the good news about Christ. How he can change our lives and give us salvation. Eternal freedom in God.
