Here we are on day two and the theme is have you ever wonder. The topic today is in Jonah.
Many of us know the story about Jonah and the big fish. God sent him to this land of Nineveh to preach to the people but he went into a different direction. The account of Jonah.
Jonah 1:3-6 NIV
But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord . Then the Lord sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up. All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they threw the cargo into the sea to lighten the ship. But Jonah had gone below deck, where he lay down and fell into a deep sleep. The captain went to him and said, “How can you sleep? Get up and call on your god! Maybe he will take notice of us so that we will not perish.”
Have you ever stop and wonder how many Jonah are out in the world today. God has called them to do great things but they decided to flee and not face the fact of what God called them to.
God cause things to happen while Jonah was on the boat. God sent a great wind on the sea. Such a violent storm the ship was about to break up. The people on the boat was afraid and the captain went down and found Jonah sleeping.
Have you wonder how was Jonah able to sleep in a time of such chaos. For all the Jonah in the world things within your circle may look fine but because you are not at the place where God want you to be he might cause things around you to be out of place. You are putting others in danger and yourself at risk.
One thing about Johan God put him on a mission to go to Nineveh. Do you know since it was God doing and God told him to go. Whatever happened to Jonah God couldn’t kill him because he was on that assignment.
Be careful and not run away from God mission he has for you. The impact it might have on those around you can cause some damage in their life.
Did Jonah ever thought he could run from God. God will get down into your heart and you can’t hide from it. It just tugging at you like a kid tugging on their mother dress as they are walking in a store because the kid wants some candy or a toy.
What God put on you to do it just like glueing something together it a bond or a hold that you can’t shake. No matter where you go it still with you.
Have you wonder how many people like Jonah has died not obeying God. Meaning the never responded to their calling and they thought not me. Fear, doubt, worry, and other things come into place because they can’t figure out why thing was happening to them.
The final thoughts is this and will continue to look at Jonah tomorrow. What God put on some Jonah in the world is only to get them closer to what he called them to. We do have Jonah in the world today. After years on the run, some will finally see what God has called them to. They then must surrender to God’s authority. They now can find the peace and pleasure in helping other to find God within their lives.
In conclusion, don’t be a Jonah. Follow God and the assignment he want you to do. By doing that it will save you from all the hassle of wondering and worries. The peace and joy that will come by doing the work of God. It may not be easy but it will bypass all the what if in life and now God is well pleased.
