Don’t seek vengeance. Let God take control

Welcome to all who will be reading this post. We are in a new month and to recap what these postings are about is a daily truth about the Events that happened in the Bible and how we can relate to it in our lives today.

We have different type of genres when it comes to movies or books, such as romance, action, adventure, mystery, and murder. There are many more but that is just a few.

Do you know in the book of Judges, even before Samson getting involved with Delilah we see lots of things going on in Samson life. It’s almost everything mentioned above from romance to murder.

The back ground for today is this Samson wife have now been married off by somebody he knew. The reason behind this was the father in-law thought Samson didn’t loved his wife no longer. To understand all that happen Judges chapter 14 gives us the background.

When we left off the other day we talked about how your action has consequences. We also talked about getting revenge or retaliation to someone that did us wrong. The point we made was God in his timing will get the justice we are looking for. May not be in the time frame we want but God is able to do it. Our goal as a believer in Christ is don’t repay evil with evil.

Here in the case of Samson’s life many thing went wrong. He responded out of anger and this is the events that happened after the fields was set on fire.

Judges 15:4‭-‬6 NIV

So he went out and caught three hundred foxes and tied them tail to tail in pairs. He then fastened a torch to every pair of tails, lit the torches and let the foxes loose in the standing grain of the Philistines. He burned up the shocks and standing grain, together with the vineyards and olive groves. When the Philistines asked, “Who did this?” they were told, “Samson, the Timnite’s son-in-law, because his wife was given to his companion.” So the Philistines went up and burned her and her father to death.

What happened here Samson acting in anger, setting the Philistines crops, which was their food supply and their source of income was now destroyed. What Samson did was wrong and because of his action, it had a very bad turn of events. When the news got around that Samson was the caused of all of the mess, they didn’t go after him or his parents but went after what he cherish the most and that was his wife and all that she had. In the scriptures it said not only was she burned to death but her father as well.

In the first six passage of what we have read, we seen results of both Samson and the Philistines revenge or retaliation. They both ended up in destruction and sadness.

Yet today is just part on of what went down in Judges 15. We will see later what Samson did to even to more harm to the Philistines. Eventhough they was his enemy and his people was held captive by the Philistines. Does this give Samson the right to do this without looking toward God first.

He was chosen to lead his people out of captivity at the hand if the Philistines. It does seem his actions didn’t meet up with what God wanted from him.

People in today world, God has given great responsibility to but are they living up to what God called them to. With Samson most of the time he took matters into his own hand. Not seeking the godly wisdom like his father did when he seek God to teach them how to learn to make sure they do the right thing in order for Samson to be or live out his destiny.

Finally we must each week God and search our lives in a way we be pleasing to God. Don’t do anything out of a hastily impulse because it can have an adverse effect on those around you including yourself. The event here was revenge and more revenge, but we see the results from today death, destruction and chaos happened. Stay strong in God, seek him, and most of all never repay evil for evil because it not what God want and it will cause more pain than it worth. Let God do his work and have peace with your soul.

Tomorrow will be looking at the rest of the events within the chapter. Be bless and know that God loves and care for you. Even in the worst or best of time he still loves you.
