We all come to the crossroads of life one way or the other. You might say not me. Our crossroads could be simple as buying the next pair of shoes. It could be as big as should I get this operation I know either way it could kill me. You are at a crossroads to live longer or die sooner.
Those crossroads decision are some of the things Samson would face in his life later on but today we going to look at what his parents was going through before Samson was born.
I said one day when God has a specific job or task for a person to do he will deliver the message. What we have to see in the passage of scripture is the fact how Samson parents responded to the messenger.
We be looking at the later verses first.
Judges 13:22-23 KJV
And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God. But his wife said unto him, If the Lord were pleased to kill us, he would not have received a burnt offering and a meat offering at our hands, neither would he have shewed us all these things, nor would as at this time have told us such things as these.
The way God do things in not what we have in mind. The messenger was there to give them the good news and to tell them of things to come. Thy might have wonder why them. They might have ask other things among themselves but the key for a great baby was to do as what the messenger told them.
We see here also things was fine at the ending they believed and did as they was instructed to do. This only happened because Manoah had some doubts or wanted to make sure he heard his wife correctly. This is how the situation happened. The passage of scripture is after Manoah wife told him what she experienced.
Judges 13:7-8 KJV
But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death. Then Manoah entreated the Lord , and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.
The factor in all of this he wasn’t sure he heard her right. Remember she was unable to have a child. To get great news of she will have a child and what while she was carrying the child might been to much for him. So he went to God. Asking God if this be true send the man of God come back to him. So he could understand what to do.
Monoah was at his crossroads of believing his wife or not. At that point he went to God for the answer. Are we going to God for the right answers or are we just doing it because we think it’s the right thing to do. We see here is he was with God because the first thing he did was not to question the lady but asking God for a better understanding of the matter
As the events happened the angel or messenger of God did come back and told both of them of what was already said. I do think the burnt offering was a covenant between God and Samson parents. From that day forward they no longer saw the man as he went up into the flame.
As I said before when God had an assignment for people to do he appeared to them in many forms. The burning bush, an angel, his voice, a cool wind. As we look at Samson parents I do think they believed in God and God was with them. God do work with those who everybody has counted out, even people themselves have said they won’t mount to anything. One day their life change and they became something because God was with them. Not only was God with Samson parents but God was with Samson as he grew and became older.
Finally I just want to let you know God is with you and you can go to him for the answer. Within the Bible it gives us what we need. The preacher gives us a message of hope. The greatest of all is when we get the instructions from God. The voice of him telling us how to go on and live for him. Telling us salvation comes through Jesus Christ. In Christ we can have Life. Life to the full and with meaning. We don’t have to look for things because Christ has given it all to us. We just have to see and believe it. If ever you are at the crossroads of anything just know God has your best interest in mind and he will see you through. Have faith and trust in God because he gives us the victory over it all.
