Genesis 16, 17 and 21
Welcome to today posting. We pray this post will encourage and enlighten your heart mind and soul.
This past week we been looking at three people. They are Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar. To cap it all off in the next two days we will be looking at the life of Ishmael. How did he get his name and will he be a part of Abraham blessing. The blessings is not the same as a covenant but it more of a protection and covering to the point God has favor over ones life.
The event that got things rolling
The way it started was Sarah ask Abraham to take Hagar. From there Hagar conceived a son. There was some confusion in the house. Hagar was upset and she left.
Look like Hagar life was totally ruined by God had another plan. When you are in a middle of a conflict and don’t have no way of getting out of it, God is able to guide you through.
What we see from Genesis 16:11-12 is this.
And the angel of the Lord said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the Lord hath heard thy affliction. And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren. Genesis 16:11-12 KJV
Promise of Ishmael to hagar
A son will be born, his name shall be called Ishmael. From many other translation and what I have read. Ishmael will be a man who will be wild. Wild in the since of having no remorse to people. Doing things he wants to do. Still live in a land among his people. Here we see he will have a hard hard and wild life living among his people.
This is only the start of the blessings. Genesis 17 gives us more things to come because of God’s promises to Abraham. Here is what Genesis 17:20 says
And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. Genesis 17:20 KJV
Promise of Ishmael to Abraham
Many forget about this verse. The other side of the family blessing. Ishmael to will be fruitful, his seed will be many. Not only this but he will be the father of 12 princes. Meaning at one put the land he and his heirs will be it will form 12 different tribes. He will be a father of a great nation. Out of his line will come a nation of people.
God promise to Ishmael and Hagar
At this time was the final straw. Sarah told Hagar to take her son and leave the camp. She don’t want her son to share his inheritance with that of Ishmael. At this time Ishmael was 14 years old. Neither one knew were the was going. They was left out in the desert to die. Yet God was with them here what happened in those events.
And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is. Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation. And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer. And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.
Genesis 21:17-18, 20-21 KJV.
Out of this God was able to take care of them. He grew up and lived in the desert. He found a wife, thanks to his mother.
We will continue this tomorrow. A deeper look into the life of Ishmael’s. His interest, his wife and children. Most of all the fact he was Abraham son God blessing was upon him and his heirs.
To conclude all of this many things happen along the way over this part of his life. Yet God was still with Ishmael and Hagar. The point here is when God blessing is upon your life continue to look towards him. He will do it at the right moment. Try not to work things out on your own. God said it and it will be done.
Again tomorrow will look deeper into Ishmael life. Until then be true to yourself, be true to others, most of all be true to God.
