Genesis 16
People do crazy things at time. One thing people do is meddling in other people affairs. They just can leave well enough alone.
Today lesson we will be looking at Sarah. She took matters into her own hands. She meddled in the affairs of God. When God tells us that a blessing is coming and we can’t see how it going to take place. Don’t mess it up by putting our hand into it. Yes somethings we have to go and get because go said go and get. When it comes to a promise that only God can do just let it be.
By Sarah doing what she did now lives are being hurt and frustration is in the midst of it all.
What was the promise? Abram will be the father of many nations and the one nation will be great. Now after so many years nothing had happened yet, Sarah started to have some doubts. This is the account of what happen with Sarah at this time.
And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the Lord hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai. Genesis 16:2 KJV
No child after so many years. With no child how can God bless you Abram. I been unable to have a child for a long time. We must now make what God say to come true. There is Hagar my maid servant go to her and let God blessing began. This is what Sarah could have said to Abram.
Desperate means comes by any measure necessary. What is the cost in putting you hand in God business. Look what happen to Sarah situation.
And Sarai Abram’s wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife. And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes. And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the Lord judge between me and thee.
Genesis 16:3-5 KJV
CULTURAL DIFFERENCE
How did Sarah mess up. The first thing was Hagar was an Egyptian. It was a cultural difference between Abram and Hagar. Abram should have know not to be bothered with her. Since Sarah gave her over to him he had no other choice.
TENSION IN THE CAMP
What we see next is tension in the camp. When the word got around about Hagar was going to have a baby tension mounted between her and Sarah. When a peron do things that God didn’t want to happen, it put stress on any situation from that point forward. Even to the point when we don’t do what God ask us to do it just make us feel guilty.
THE GUILTY FEELING INSIDE
What then happen in Sarah life was remorse and guilt was getting to her. The trouble with Sarah was this, she thought by stepping in and helping out thing will solve what God promised Abram. In what the passage said Sarah felt the pain and hurt that what was going on in the camp.
The truth be told, when it comes to serving and obeying God we must pay close attention to what he is telling us. Many people’s lives has been hurt or even destroyed by not following God’s commands. God is almighty and is in control of it all. He knows the best and created us for a reason and a purpose. We need to make sure that those things we are doing is under God desire for our life. Yes we may stumble and fall at times but don’t let that stop you for being the best you God created you for.
Listen, obey and show reverence to God and it will prevent anyone from feeling guilty for not doing as God want out of their lives. Don’t be a Sarah trying to help God, just wait on God in his timing and space.
What happen to Hagar and her son because of this situation. A child was born out of deception and only to gain glory from God. We be looking into that tommorow. Lives turned upside down.
