To end this part of commitment we have to see how doing the work of will pay off in the long run.
Jesus if you didn’t know Christ was sent to the world. He was the way back to our right standing with God.
In john 1:11-13 speaks on this.
He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. John 1:11-13 NIV.
Jesus was sent here to do the work that God the Father called him to do. Jesus spoke of this many times in the book of John.
For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. John 6:38 NIV.
We know that Jesus was sent by God to die on the cross for the sins of the world. We know God will for Jesus was found in John 3:16. What was Jesus to do.
He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” Luke 4:16-21 NIV
We can say Jesus main purpose was the cross, but yet God did have him to do these things before the cross.
Proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners.
Recovery of sight for the blind.
To set the oppressed free.
To proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
Jesus was sent by God to do those things. Jesus said on many times I here to do the will of the one who sent me. What we see about was God will for Jesus. Those thing was just a part of the total plan which God had for Jesus.
When we read and study the Bible he went out and did those thing God the Father wanted him to do. It wasn’t Jesus himself but it was God working in him. Jesus himself said to God not my will but thou will be done.
Jesus gave up all to be our savior. His commitment to God was great. He served God by doing what he was called to do. He never have up,he went to the cross so all of the world could know and experience God love and purpose for their lives.
Being committed to God it is out of love. We can do thing for him but without that burning desires and the longing, it would seem it was out of a form and obligation. This words come to mind when I think on how believers need to serve God.
Diligently, earnestly, continue seeking, faithfully, proudly, truthfully, and last is from a heart full of devotion and love.
Jesus was committed to God because he knew what the outcome would be. Not for him but for God to get the glory in all that he said and do. Let’s be more committed to the things of God. Do what he has called you to do. Walk in his ways. The blessings of doing will go beyond our wildest imagination. Not only you but others will be rewarded for doing as God has instructed us to do.
God bless you all for being a part of this teaching on growing in God- being committed. Further studies are on there way.
