A Call to Commitment

Growing in God teaching along with the events of David are only some takeaway point of 35 years ago at the outreach on the the beach in Daytona Beach Florida.

The power of the Holy Spirit, and knowing when to listen to it plays a part in my life. It was of God to tell of some points I learned at the beach that week. As I have been posting thing of such as growing in God and the events of David was just part of the lesson learn. Later on this year I will continue the story of David but for now we will continue with the point of called to commitment.

What are you committed to each day and why? Even if some people don’t like their job they still committed. In other words people work to support themselves and the family. They know in the long run by working they will receive the benefits from the work. That is there rewards.

Serving God is a lifetime commitment. The Bible speaks on this true. The events of the Bible people spent a lifetime being committed to God and the things of him. Hebrews speaks about having faith and seeking God. When we do that being committed in seeking God he will reward us. The word says

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6 NIV.

What does our commitment to Christ look like to our family. In Matthew 10:37-45 speaks on this. Our love and commitment to Christ should look almost like hate to our family. The Bible speak on these truths

Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. Matthew 10:37‭-‬39 NIV

In other words those who are in Christ are called to be committed to him and the things of God. In the book of John chapter 21 we see Jesus getting his disciples. They gave up what they knew follow him and they became committed to Christ.

We who are walking in Christ are we 100 percent following those things of Christ or even God. Are we more comfortable in the things on the earth than the one who made the earth. We need to be reminded of this point.

Those things in life are just temporary but our life with God is forever. The rewards we will receive both on Earth and in heaven as we are close committed in doing those things for Christ will be great.

The last take away point was this. Love is the key. We can’t be committed to God unless we love him with a pure heart. Yes we could do things for and understand things in him but is our heart truly in it. Yes we maybe go to the job but do we give it all of our efforts.

As we serve and obey God when it come commitment it is a total surrendering to him. Nothing else matters. He is the air we breathe, he is the life we live. Most of all he is all in all.

Finally the call to commitment is listen and obeying those things God has for us to do. We need to be 100 percent into it. God knows that we can do it but making the choice is out of love for him. It not for us but for God glory to be seen. With our commitment to Christ or God it might look like hate towards family members but yet it is the cost for being in Christ and the things of God.

Commitment that Jesus had to his father God. Next teaching
