When come into the family of God or ask Christ to be our personal Lord and Savior it don’t stop there it’s a lifetime of growing in him. Once we have ask Christ into our life we need to set aside a time to get to know God, Jesus, and understand the Holy Spirit.
Some may call it devotional time other may call it quiet time, but what ever they call it one must spend time before the Lord on a daily basis. Why you might say on a daily basis? This is because we can get to understand who we are in Christ and also find out God plan and purpose for our life.
Do people really know God has a plan for all of us? We who have come into the family of God all has a personal commitments to be used by God, in order for the body of Christ can be encourage as well as others coming to know Christ personally.
What is quite time all about. It is a way for us to have the one on one encounter with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. We do this by reading and studying the Bible on subjects that God has for us to follow. If for chance you need more you can go to a bookstore and find study guides or daily devotional guides that you are interested in.
To grow in God it is a personal thing. We have Bible study or group study at church but to really understand for yourself you have to take and make time for God. The growth is personal. You can’t depend on somebody to tell you this us what God want you to do. You have to rely on God to tell you those things. This is the communication with him or personal prayer time.
With quiet time it also comes with talking or communicating with God. It could be in a prayer or just simply talking with him. You talk with God as if you would talk to your friend. When we do this we also know what God wants from us as well as we grow closer to him.
By having a quiet time it will help us to grow more in the things of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Thing you might not understand write them down and ask your pastor or do more research on that topic. Unlike years ago we was limited on the information, but now we have the capability to research things from library to the internet.
As we grow in God we will see from a different prospective. That it way we need to set a time to study, to read, and pray. It is a lifetime of learning, it is never ending process.
Again just as we grow naturally. We need to grow spiritually. Both are a lifetime commitment. Not only that but for people who just became believers we need to go easy on them. Meaning they are young in Christ. Teach them according to where they are at. They have to be fed the right food at the right time.
With a young believer in Christ, we also have to tell them these things so they themselves can grow and know more about the things of God. One thing I have notice is this people don’t take the time to discipleship others. We loss most new believers to Christ in the first year because we don’t teach or train them the right way.
Finally we need to set aside each day to have that personal encounter with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. By doing this it will help us to grow and develope a closer walk with God. By doing it out of love for God it will better our walk with him and build or faith. If we do out of a form and not from the heart it won’t benefits us or God because it now a obligation and not a commitment. We have the quiet time and devotion from a point of love and a truth. Not from a standpoint I did this and I done my duty for today.
Let the love of Christ richly bless you. Always do things out of love and not out of a form. Have a place in your heart for God and continue to grow in him.
Next topic will be growing in God – understanding who I am in him.
