CONFIDENCE BRINGS THE VICTORY.

Looking back I can now see how confrontation can bring about confidence. It is like saying practice makes perfect.

I recall looking back 35 years ago and wondering do I have what it take be a witness for Christ. Sharing Christ with others so they can have and experience a life full of God’s grace and mercy. That week of trying to share my faith with others didn’t go easy for me, but what I got out of it is lasting impression.

Two thinks I want to post today are the more you confront things in life more likely it will make you stronger. Second is when we have the confidence in ourselves them nothing can stop us in doing what needs to be done.

As we again look at the takeaway from that week 35 years ago about this young boy name David. He was a teenager at the time, he had a heart for God, he also attended or watch over the sheep.

A challenge came to the Israelites. The challenge was Goliath. The Israelites was listening to what Goliath was saying but because of his size and statue they didn’t have the faith in themselves to defeat Goliath.

David saw this in a different light. Here is how David responded to that situation after refusing to put on the king’s suit of armour. This can be found in 1 Samuel 17:38-40

This is what David did

Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.
1 Samuel 17:40 NIV
David didn’t need all that stuff to weigh him down but only what he had gather in his hands

The results of it all was this
David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord ’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
1 Samuel 17:45‭-‬47 NIV

As it was done David killed Goliath, not in his own might but he came in the name of the Lord. David had faith and believed God was able because God done it before and us able to do it again.

The title is confronting the giant. We have lots if thing we have to confront in life. As we confront them it will only make us stronger and stronger. We now can have the victory over the problem or situation. No matter how big or small the situation if we put God first and allow him to step in, then the situation will go away.

Today was all having confidence in ourselves knowing we are winners and in Christ we have the victory.
