Let think about the title for a second. What did you face in life that made you stronger. Lots have confronted their own demons in their lives. Those things are addictions that we place within our livess or somebody place upon our own lives that we try to escape from. Once we face them and under the problem then we have confronted our worst enemy and we can now walk in confidence that those things that was upon us is no longer a problem in our lives.
To see this play out in a group of people let look at David as he went up against Goliath.
A champion named Goliath, who was from Gath, came out of the Philistine camp. His height was six cubits and a span. Goliath stood and shouted to the ranks of Israel, “Why do you come out and line up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and are you not the servants of Saul? Choose a man and have him come down to me. If he is able to fight and kill me, we will become your subjects; but if I overcome him and kill him, you will become our subjects and serve us.” 1 Samuel 17:4, 8-9 NIV
Did those who hear this understand what was going on. They were confronted with a situation, but yet didn’t have the faith or confidence in themselves, or God to kill the Goliath. Even to the point when Goliath said whoever kill him his kingdom will be their slaves.
At time we are confronted with things, and we know we are stronger than that situation but we give in. How many of us give up to quickly. How many of us say the problem is to big and I can’t handle it.
Do you not know we can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. God is able to give us the power to overcome anything in our lives if we walk in faith and don’t doubt him and what he can do. All we need is the confidence in God and ourselves.
To continue on while David was bringing lunch to those who was listening to Goliath this is how David heard it. He thought it went against anything that God had commanded. He was tainting God and his people. David reply to Saul was.
But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you.” 1 Samuel 17:34-37 NIV
At what moment did David win over Saul approval to face Goliath. It was done after the fact. David gave his resume of how God help and protected him when he came up against wild beast of the field.
David have already build the confidence because he has came up or been confronted by things. Yet David is still alive to tell his story.
Remember be strong and face those changes today, for those changes you face today will gain you confidence later on in life. Be a David, be strong and walk with God. I am the long run your confrontation now will be bring you confidence later. You then can help others along the way.
Let the power of God flow in your life, because with God you can do all things. In him we have the victory.
The next topic will be the confidence that provided victory.
