This is the second part of two part edition for the weekend. The first part was about following the leader or listen to Godly wisdom or advice
Tonight is what could happen to a person who was brought up in a Godly house and was given all of the wisdom from both of his parents, yet didn’t do as they instructed him to do. Until he came to an understanding of what they was saying.
Title could be down the wrong road, but God was still watching. This could be something Proverbs 4 is talking about.
My father once told me to be aware of those who do evil and are out there to do harm to me. Since I am my own man now I am big and bad. I can do anything I want. I was about 27 or so when I remember the advice that my father gave me as if it was yesterday
Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life. Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way. For they cannot rest until they do evil; they are robbed of sleep till they make someone stumble.
Proverbs 4:13-16 NIV
I got myself in a mess a few years back and now it was coming to haunt me. When I heard a group of evil people was out to get me I was scared for my life. I was pleading and begging at my house Lord why are these people out to get me I thought it was over and I settled my debt with them. They almost have taken everything I had, what is left is a little bit that I can only live off of or get by with.
As I was trying to escape that situation I heard God saying
Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.
Proverbs 4:26-27 NIV
I said way God I have already slipped into the trap of the evil man and what I have done is very wicked in your sight. I know I have done wrong and now the past is catching up to me. I know I should had listen to my parents as they told me
They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble. My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Proverbs 4:17, 19-23 NIV
I said I really can’t run any longer I must have to face them. I know my God is a protector and he has always be by my side. When it seemed like he forsaken me that is when he carried me. I recall my parents told me this. When the chips are down God is able to carry you through.
As I was walking to meet this guy I heard a person from out of nowhere told me
Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Cherish her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you. She will give you a garland to grace your head and present you with a glorious crown.” Proverbs 4:6-9 NIV
At that moment I had a flash back of all the wisdom and knowledge my parents gave me. Within moments I realize and understood what life was all about. It was to have peace with God, have the right fellowship with him. Most of all come to God by his son Jesus Christ. That is what I was told John 3:16 said.
As I was turning the corner to meet those guys that was going to pay me back for things I didn’t do. I saw some strange things going on. Looked like a bright light shining from the sky, somewhat like a helicopter light, but more brighter and purer.
The was a voice so loud and clear. He is a chosen vessel no harm is to come his way. My hands of protection is upon him. Flee and never bother this man of God again. They all ran away, I felled on my knees to say thank you Jesus for all you have done for me.
Even when I was out doing my own thing not listening to the words of my parents you was with me. Now I know it’s been you keeping me safe all this long.
As I was turning around the same man I saw earlier told me my son it’s time to go back home with your family so they can see you. They been praying for your safety and protection. When you get home you have a mission to carry out. So go, you way now and be blessed.
I never saw that old man again but that night was a wonderful night and I realize this now.
Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction; pay attention and gain understanding. I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching. For I too was a son to my father, still tender, and cherished by my mother. Then he taught me, and he said to me, “Take hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands, and you will live. Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. Proverbs 4:1-5 NIV
